The BMW 535i N55 F10 / F11 exhaust in detail.
On the used market, the 535i F10 is an excellent deal: a prestigious saloon and the N55, a 3.0-litre single-turbo inline-six, reliable and full of torque, for 306 hp and 400 Nm. Its career runs from 2010 to 2017, the period covered by our page, while the four-cylinder 520i and 528i, the V8 550i and the M5 F10 fall under other pages.
In the 5 Series, the turbine absorbs some of the noise and the factory exhaust takes care of the rest, so the deep, mechanical tone of the N55, its metallic harmonics and its crackles all disappear. Yet a quality exhaust system is the modification that transforms this car the most: with our cat-back and the valves open, the inline-six regains a strong presence from idle and a gravelly climb; with the valves closed, the saloon keeps a discretion fit for a business meeting.
Nothing is welded under this body: the system, bent to the VIN, connects with clamps and gaskets in about two hours. The factory valve control stays in place if your 535i has one; failing that, the Rog remote and its box hidden in the boot take over.
Under the “Manifold” option, the page sells the N55’s downpipe, which houses the catalytic converter at the turbo outlet: without a map, it is limited to voice and a few kilos less. The N55 in a 535i keeps controlling emissions behind a 200-cell downpipe; if you are hesitating over the 100-cell one, note that it is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, the decat version being reserved for track use. This valved cat-back can be ordered in 304 stainless steel, with a full tone, or in titanium around 40% lighter and finished in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the BMW 535i N55 F10 / F11 3.0T exhaust.
Can a 535i Touring F11 benefit from this exhaust?
Yes. The F10 saloon and the F11 Touring take the same Rog system: same chassis, same N55, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing. The longer 535i GT F07 is not covered.
How much headroom does a 535i F10’s N55 offer?
The published Stage 2 figures give 368 hp and 557 Nm, with a downpipe and an ECU remap at an approved tuner; the N55 has been proven in tuning for more than ten years, and the cat-back alone works with the stock map.
BMW 535i N55 F10 3.0T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
Why is the exhaust said to rejuvenate a 535i?
Because the factory system smothers the N55’s deep character: the cat-back makes it audible with the valves open, and the saloon gains a personality its understated looks never hint at.
Stainless steel or titanium under a 5 Series F10?
304 stainless steel is the natural choice for a grand tourer, robust through the winters; titanium lightens the system by around 40% for the same design and brightens the inline-six’s note at high revs.
BMW 535i N55 F10 / F11 3.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW 535i N55 F10 / F11 3.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
