The BMW X5 50i F15 exhaust in detail.
The X5 50i F15 is the V8 version of BMW’s large SUV: a 4.4-litre twin-turbo with 450 hp and 650 Nm, paired with xDrive all-wheel drive, for strong acceleration and effortless overtaking, even when loaded for the holidays. It is an engine for fast long journeys more than for raw performance. This V8 version exists from 2014 to 2018, while the six-cylinder 35i and the X5 M F85 have separate systems.
A twin-turbo V8 of this displacement has a deep, full voice whose rumble builds in power under acceleration; in the X5 F15, turbos and factory exhaust form a double filter, and nothing from the cabin hints at the eight cylinders. Open the valves of the Rog cat-back: the start-up announces itself, acceleration can be heard, with a deep tone that matches the SUV’s stature. Close them: it regains the calm that fits in anywhere, from the school car park to the motorway at night.
About two hours in the workshop, with no welding, are enough to fit a system bent to your VIN; the valves remain controlled by the factory system or by the Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells the front section that follows the V8’s turbos; without a map, it settles for voice and a little lightness. This touring V8 keeps its emissions control with the 200-cell front section; with 100 cells, the X5 is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. On the cat-back side, 304 stainless steel supports the V8’s bass, while titanium brightens it and weighs around 40% less.

Questions about the BMW X5 50i F15 V8 4.4T exhaust.
M50i or 50i badge: is it really the X5 50i F15 system?
Yes: BMW identifies this generation’s V8 as the xDrive50i, and we have corrected the M50i badge in our data; your SUV’s VIN is then used to check everything before manufacturing.
Does an X5 xDrive50i F15’s V8 have something in reserve?
Around 536 hp and 788 Nm according to published Stage 2 figures, with the front section and a remap at an approved tuner, to be confirmed according to the condition of the engine and transmission; the cat-back alone does not affect it.
BMW X5 50i F15 V8 4.4T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
Does an equipped X5 50i stay discreet in town?
Yes: with the valves closed, it keeps its original calm at the traffic lights as well as outside the school; the V8 only speaks up at your request.
For the V8 of an X5 50i, stainless steel or titanium?
304 stainless steel keeps a deeper rumble and shrugs off winters; titanium is around 40% lighter for the same design and makes the note clearer at full load.
BMW X5 50i F15 V8 4.4T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW X5 50i F15 V8 4.4T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
