    A question about this exhaust?

The BMW X5 M F95 exhaust in detail.

The third generation of BMW M SUVs, the X5 M F95 pushes the S63, a 4.4-litre V8 with its turbos housed in the vee, to 600 hp, and 625 hp as a Competition, with 750 Nm; since the April 2023 facelift, the Competition has received the S68, a 4.4-litre V8 with 48 V mild-hybrid technology, still with 625 hp and 750 Nm. We document it from 2020 to 2026, facelift included, and according to the guide the X6 M F96 shares the same exhaust but keeps its own page; the X5 M F85 and E70 have theirs.

This engine has a hoarse, tight voice, typical of hot-vee V8s, that hardens as it climbs through the revs and crackles on the overrun; on the factory F95, it arrives polished, almost distant, and you feel the violence of the acceleration without really hearing its source. With the valves open, our cat-back lets the V8 rumble from start-up and then roar with every acceleration; with the valves closed, your X5 M regains a sound suited to early-morning departures.

Fitting, without welding, takes about two hours with clamps and gaskets; the system is built to your VIN and its valves respond to the factory control or to the Rog remote.

The “Manifold” option sells the V8’s downpipes and their catalytic converters; on their own, they change the voice and the mass, and it is an ECU remap, entrusted to a tuner who knows the platform, that converts them into power. To keep this third generation’s emissions control, take the 200-cell downpipes; the 100-cell ones are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. The cat-back comes in 304 stainless steel or in considerably lighter titanium.

    Questions about the BMW X5 M F95 4.4TT exhaust.

My X5 M F95 is a Competition: does it need a different system?

Yes, both versions are listed on the page from 2020 to 2026, including the facelift; send us the VIN and we will check before building.

What is published for an X5 M F95 at Stage 2?

850 hp and 1,170 Nm, for the 600 hp version as well as the pre-facelift Competition, with downpipes and an ECU remap; at this level the gearbox and cooling matter, and the cat-back alone does not affect them.

What should be planned for the vehicle inspection of a tuned X5 M F95?

A V8 idling behind closed valves, with catalytic converters still present, factory ones or on 200-cell downpipes: the SUV then presents as it did on delivery; with 100 cells, it is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use.

    Does the X6 M F96 take the same system as the X5 M F95?

According to our guide, two body styles share a single set of mechanicals and a single system here; we still keep one page per model and check each car’s VIN.

Why does the X5 M’s V8 seem so distant from the factory?

Its turbos in the centre of the vee already filter the pulses, and the factory exhaust, designed for comfort, only gives back part of them; our cat-back lets you hear the rest with the valves open.

    BMW X5 M F95 4.4TT: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

    BMW X5 M F95 4.4TT: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
