The Dodge Challenger R/T V8 5.7 exhaust in detail.
The HEMI owes its name to its hemispherical combustion chambers. In the 2009 to 2014 Challenger R/T, this naturally aspirated 5.7-litre V8 keeps the American recipe, central camshaft and pushrods, for 377 to 380 hp and 542 to 556 Nm depending on the gearbox. The more recent Challengers, the 2016 to 2022 R/T as well as the SRT Hellcat, are covered on separate pages.
Its cross-plane crankshaft gives it a loping idle, made of deep, irregular beats, then a thick rumble that swells without becoming shrill. From the factory, the muscle car only delivers a softened version of it. With the valves open, the valved Rog cat-back restores that irregular idle and makes the downshifts roll like thunder; with the valves closed, the Challenger becomes peaceful again for daily journeys.
Built to your VIN, the system fits in about two hours, no welding, with clamps and gaskets; factory valve control retained if present, the Rog remote otherwise. Here, the “Manifold” option really does mean the HEMI’s manifolds, which carry the original catalytic converter. On this V8 with no forced induction, replacing them together with an ECU remap brings a real but modest gain, around 3 to 8%; without an ECU remap, it is the sound that improves. With 200-cell manifolds, the Challenger keeps its emissions control, while the 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country and the decat version is reserved for track use, whether as a Sunday dragster or on a track day. The 304 stainless steel or titanium, around 40% lighter and finished in brushed, gold or purple, then exits through round tips.

Questions about the Dodge Challenger R/T V8 5.7 exhaust.
Can a 2016 Challenger R/T V8 take the 2009-2014 exhaust?
This page covers the Challenger R/T from 2009 to 2014. The 2016 to 2022 R/T has its own page, as does the SRT Hellcat. If you are unsure about your model year, the VIN lets us settle it before manufacturing.
Does the Challenger R/T’s HEMI 5.7 need an ECU remap?
Not for the cat-back: the 5.7 V8 runs on its factory map. An ECU remap is mainly justified with the manifolds, for a modest gain typical of naturally aspirated engines, around 3 to 8%.
2009 to 2014 Challenger R/T and vehicle inspection: which configuration should be presented?
Valves closed first, bringing the HEMI back close to its standard voice, then factory or 200-cell manifolds, so that the catalytic converters stay in service. The 100-cell will be judged according to the vehicle and your national rules; the decat is reserved for the track.
Are the HEMI 5.7 manifolds the same on the Challenger and the Charger?
Yes: on these model years, the Challenger and Charger share the engine bay and manifolds of the 5.7 HEMI. We nevertheless check the exact compatibility of your Challenger against its VIN, before any manufacturing.
Dodge Challenger R/T V8 5.7: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
