The Ford Focus RS Mk3 2.3 EcoBoost exhaust in detail.
Under the bonnet of the third-generation Focus RS, sold from 2016 to 2018, works a 2.3-litre turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder: 350 hp, 440 Nm, a sharp response and a tuning base highly prized in the Ford community. The page is dedicated to this RS; the Focus ST Mk4 and the EcoBoost Mustangs each have their own, and we use your VIN to check compatibility before manufacturing.
Between the turbo, which swallows part of the noise, and a factory exhaust calibrated for emissions standards, the RS’s voice does not reflect its temperament: it is often the first thing owners change. The Rog valved cat-back gives it a full, snarling tone, an audible turbo under load and crisp crackles when you lift off, valves open; once closed, the hatchback becomes as discreet as stock again.
With no welding, fitting is done with clamps and gaskets in about two hours, and the valves follow the factory control if the Focus has one, with the Rog remote, whose box sits in the boot, taking over otherwise.
The downpipe, which runs from the turbo and carries the catalytic converter, is offered under the “Manifold” option. On a non-remapped RS, it brings sound and a little weight saving, not horsepower; with an ECU remap, the published Stage 2 figures reach 394 hp and 546 Nm. Behind the RS’s turbo, a 200-cell downpipe keeps the original emissions control, a 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, where the RS is often a regular. The Focus’s blued round tips finish a system in 304 stainless steel or titanium, the latter around 40% lighter and offered in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Ford Focus RS Mk3 2.3 EcoBoost exhaust.
Can a Focus ST borrow the exhaust designed for the Focus RS Mk3?
No. The Focus ST Mk4 has its own page, with a different engine; the system shown here follows the geometry of the 2016 to 2018 RS Mk3 2.3 EcoBoost, which your VIN confirms before manufacturing.
After fitting, does the 2.3 EcoBoost in the Focus RS Mk3 need a new map?
Not for the cat-back, which the factory electronics accept as it is. With the downpipe, an ECU remap becomes the way to exploit the freed-up flow: the published Stage 2 figures take the RS from 350 to 394 hp.
On vehicle inspection day, in which configuration should the Focus RS Mk3 be taken in?
Valves closed and catalytic converter active, whether it is the factory downpipe or the 200-cell version: the hatchback then returns to a level close to stock. The 100-cell depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules; the decat downpipe only goes out on track.
200-cell or 100-cell: which downpipe for a Focus RS Mk3 used every day?
For everyday driving, the 200-cell: emissions control stays in place and breathing improves markedly. The 100-cell, accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, is aimed at RS models that are already tuned and remapped, not at those that sleep outside all year round.
Ford Focus RS Mk3 2.3 EcoBoost: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Ford Focus RS Mk3 2.3 EcoBoost: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
