Valves
Operated by remote control, factory-paired.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.

The Lotus Exige S3 / S Roadster exhaust in detail.
The Exige S3, built from 2012 to 2019, houses a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 just behind its two occupants: 350 hp and 400 Nm in a road-registered track car. The Evora S, Evora GT410 and Emira, which also get a supercharged V6 3.5, each have their own page. Your VIN lets us confirm compatibility before manufacturing.
At Lotus, Colin Chapman’s doctrine fits in one sentence: lightness above all. Yet the factory exhaust remains the place where excess weight and restrained character lie dormant. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back makes the mid-mounted engine sing a few centimetres from your ears, with clear crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the drives between destinations stay civilised.
On this supercharged V6, the front section consists of the manifolds, which incorporate the original catalytic converter; the page sells them under the “Manifold” option. It is the most restrictive part, and replacing it only brings power with an ECU remap: without one, sound and a little less mass. Taken in 200-cell form, these manifolds let the Exige control emissions as it did from the factory.
Under such a low body, a lift is welcome: fitting is then done with clamps and gaskets, no welding, in about two hours. Factory valves are retained if the car has them, the Rog remote otherwise. 304 stainless steel or titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, a real argument on an Exige; titanium comes in brushed, gold or purple, and the tips in chrome, gloss black or blued titanium.

Questions about the Lotus Exige S3 / S Roadster 3.5 V6 exhaust.
Does this system fit an Exige S2?
The page is only for the Exige S3 with the 3.5-litre supercharged V6, from 2012 to 2019; an S2 is not covered by this page. If you are unsure about your version, the VIN lets us check before manufacturing.
After fitting, does the Exige S3 need a specific map?
Not for the cat-back, which works without touching the ECU. If you replace the manifolds, an ECU remap at an approved tuner converts the freed-up flow into power; no Stage 2 figure is published on our page for the Exige.
How should a modified Exige S3 be prepared for vehicle inspection?
With the valves closed, the Exige returns to a volume close to stock. The 200-cell manifolds, like the factory front section, maintain emissions control. An Exige with 100-cell manifolds will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules; in decat form, it is reserved for track use, which fits its calling as a road-registered track car.
For an Exige used on track days, which material?
Titanium is often the obvious choice: around 40% lighter than stainless steel for the same design, true to the car’s philosophy, with a more metallic note at high revs. 304 stainless steel, tougher and rounder in sound, suits year-round road use.
Does the Exige S Roadster take the same system as the coupé?
Yes. The Exige S3 coupé and the Exige S Roadster take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 3.5-litre supercharged V6, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Lotus Exige S3 / S Roadster 3.5 V6: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
