The Mercedes-AMG CLA35 C118 / X118 exhaust in detail.
It is the number one complaint among 35 owners: the gap in sound with the 45 is glaring. Yet the CLA35 C118 has everything of an AMG, with a sharpened chassis, all-wheel drive and a 2.0-litre turbo M260 raised to 306 hp and 400 Nm. This page covers the 2020 and 2021 CLA35; the CLA250 and CLA45 S of the same generation have their own system.
Our valved cat-back closes that gap. With the valves open, the four-door coupé gains a full, sporty tone, an assertive character under load and crackles when you lift off; the badge can finally be heard. With the valves closed, full discretion returns, at a level close to the stock system.
Fitting: clamps, gaskets, no welding, about two hours for an equipped mechanic, on a system built to your VIN. The original valve control is retained if your CLA35 has it; otherwise, a two-button Rog remote, with its box housed in the boot.
On this M260, the “Manifold” option refers to the downpipe, which carries the catalytic converter at the turbo outlet. With a 200-cell catalyst, it keeps emissions control. With 100 cells, acceptance is decided depending on the car and the rules in your country; in decat form, it is reserved for track use. The power gain only comes with an ECU remap; on its own, the part frees up the flow without changing the map. The last choice is the material: robust 304 stainless steel, or titanium, which removes around 40% of the mass and comes in three colours.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG CLA35 C118 / X118 2.0 turbo exhaust.
Can a CLA35 C118 registered in 2019 be equipped?
Our page limits this system to the 2020 and 2021 model-year CLA35 C118, without 2019. If your car is on the borderline, send us the VIN: we check before manufacturing. The CLA250 and CLA45 S each have their own page.
What potential for a remapped CLA35?
The table on the page shows 370 hp and 510 Nm in Stage 2 (downpipe and full map), where the car leaves the factory with 306 hp and 400 Nm. Our guide points out that the mechanical base is close to that of the 45 models. For the rear system alone, no electronic work is required.
How does a modified CLA35 present at vehicle inspection?
With the valves closed, it shows a volume close to stock; with the cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipe, nothing changes in terms of emissions control. As for the 100-cell, its acceptance depends on the vehicle and the country, while the decat version is reserved for track use and is therefore not presented for inspection.
Why choose titanium on a CLA35 C118?
For weight and tone: around 40% less mass for the same design, a more metallic note at the top of the rev range, and three finishes. 304 stainless steel remains the safe bet, with a full sound, and it too stands up to winter.
Does the CLA35 Shooting Brake X118 take the same system?
Yes. The C118 four-door coupé and the X118 Shooting Brake take the same Rog system: same chassis, same engine, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Mercedes-AMG CLA35 C118 / X118 2.0 turbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Mercedes-AMG CLA35 C118 / X118 2.0 turbo: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

The CLA 35 is the gateway to the AMG world, with the style of a four-door coupé. Its acknowledged weak point: a sound far too tame for the badge it wears. That is exactly what our exhaust system puts right....
