    A question about this exhaust?

    Mercedes-AMGE55 W211

    Which valved exhaust for a Mercedes-AMG E55 W211 or S211?

The Rog system for the Mercedes-AMG E55 Kompressor is a valved cat-back exhaust for the W211 saloon and S211 estate, built to your VIN in 304 stainless steel or titanium for the 476 hp, 700 Nm supercharged 5.4-litre V8. As the supercharger does not sit in the exhaust path, the V8's whole voice goes through the system: valves open, it finally comes out.

Sound, options and fitting in detail: our Mercedes-AMG E55 W211 guide.

The E55 W211’s thrust is like no other: a 5.4-litre V8 force-fed by a twin-screw supercharger, 476 hp and above all 700 Nm available with no lag whatsoever. At any rpm, a press of the throttle is enough to propel this E-Class with disconcerting ease. The page covers cars from 2003 to 2006, with your VIN used to confirm yours.

A key point for the exhaust: the supercharger is driven by the engine and does not sit in the exhaust gas path. The V8’s whole voice therefore goes into the system, and the factory one chose silence, leaving only a distant murmur pierced by the supercharger’s whine. With the Rog valved cat-back, the E55 regains a deep rumble at idle and a rolling thunder under acceleration; closed up again, it becomes the sober saloon it claims to be.

No welding or cutting: clamps, gaskets, about two hours for an equipped workshop. If your E55 has kept a factory valve control, it is retained; if not, the Rog remote and its box hidden in the boot take over.

Here, the “Manifold” option lives up to its name: on this supercharged V8, it is the manifolds that collect the gases at the cylinder outlets and integrate the original catalytic converter, the second restriction after the silencer. In the 200-cell version, emissions control remains; the 100-cell version will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; without a catalytic converter, it is reserved for track use. No power gain without an ECU remap, and no Stage 2 figure is published for this engine. 304 stainless steel suits this saloon well; titanium takes off around 40% of the mass.

    Questions about the Mercedes-AMG E55 W211 / S211 5.4 V8 Kompressor exhaust.

    Can my 2002 or 2007 E55 W211 be fitted?

Our page for the cat-back covers the E55 W211 from 2003 to 2006; for the manifolds, no model year is specified. Outside this range, send us the VIN: we check before any manufacturing.

Does the E55 W211’s ECU need touching when fitting the valved system?

No: the rear system is happy with the factory tune, with no electronic work. The page publishes no Stage 2 figure for this supercharged V8; if you change the manifolds, only an ECU remap can turn that flow into power.

In which configuration should an E55 W211 fitted with the system go to its vehicle inspection?

Valves closed, with the factory manifolds or their 200-cell version: the saloon keeps its emissions control and a sound close to stock. 100-cell manifolds will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules. Decat manifolds, reserved for track use, have no business on a saloon of this age on inspection day.

Why does the exhaust change the sound of a supercharged E55 so much?

Because the supercharger, driven by the engine, does not sit in the exhaust gas path: unlike a turbo, it filters nothing. Everything the V8 produces reaches the system, which alone decides what you hear.

Does the E55 S211 estate take the same system as the saloon?

Yes. The W211 saloon and the S211 estate share the Kompressor V8 and the same wheelbase; the Rog system is built to your VIN and fitted with clamps and gaskets. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.

    Mercedes-AMG E55 W211 / S211 5.4 V8 Kompressor: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

    Mercedes-AMG E55 W211 / S211 5.4 V8 Kompressor: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

    Mercedes-AMG E55 W211 / S211 V8 Kompressor: the wolf in a business suit, the exhaust guide

With the E55 W211, AMG slipped a 476 hp, 700 Nm supercharged V8 into an E-Class that looks almost ordinary. The contrast is the whole charm of it: a family car capable of sports car performance. The only drawback: the...
