The Mercedes-AMG E63 W212 / S212 5.5 exhaust in detail.
The facelifted E63 W212, 2014 and 2015 model years, swapped natural aspiration for a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8: 557 hp and 720 Nm, torque that crushes everything from low revs. It is the golden era of AMG V8s, generous displacement and volcanic character, but the factory exhaust remains calibrated for limousine buyers. The naturally aspirated E63 W212 6.2 and the 4.0-litre V8 E63 W213 have other pages.
Beneath the silencers lies a good part of what built Affalterbach’s reputation: the rolling thunder, the depth at idle, the bangs when you lift off. Open the valves of the Rog cat-back and the saloon regains that physical presence. Close them and cruising comfort returns intact: two personalities in a single valved exhaust.
Built to your VIN, the system replaces the old one in about two hours; everything is held by clamps and gaskets, nothing is welded. If the saloon has kept its factory valves, their control is retained as it is; otherwise, you select the Rog remote when configuring.
With two turbos, the restriction after the silencer is the catalysed downpipe, which this page sells under the “Manifold” option. The 200-cell version maintains emissions control. For the 100-cell, acceptance is decided according to the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use. No Stage 2 figure is published; only an ECU remap would turn this flow into horsepower. As for materials, 304 stainless steel or titanium, the latter around 40% lighter for the same design.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG E63 W212 / S212 5.5 V8 biturbo exhaust.
Is an E63 S W212 or a 2012 E63 covered?
The page is for the 2014 to 2015 E63 W212 5.5 twin-turbo; the years 2011 to 2013 and 2016 are excluded for the cat-back. For the S version, the front section is not explicitly listed: send us the VIN and we check before manufacturing.
With the downpipe, does the E63 W212 5.5 absolutely have to have an ECU remap?
For the rear system alone, the AMG map stays exactly as it left the factory. If you add the downpipe, an ECU remap becomes necessary to extract power from it and to manage the engine warning light that a sports catalytic converter can trigger. The page publishes no Stage 2 figure.
Vehicle inspection: what should I plan for with a modified E63 W212 5.5?
An inspection with the valves closed, with the cat-back alone or a 200-cell downpipe: stock volume, treated exhaust gases. The 100-cell version remains a matter of the car and national regulations; the decat version is reserved for track use.
Does the facelifted E63 S212 estate take the same system as the saloon?
Yes. The W212 saloon and the S212 estate take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Does the E63 W212 / S212 drone when cruising with the Rog system?
Not as long as the valves stay shut: the silencer absorbs the flow and the saloon keeps its comfort on long stages. You choose the moment the V8 speaks up again.
