The Mercedes-AMG E63 W213 / S213 exhaust in detail.
Every E63 W213 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 leaves Affalterbach with a plaque signed by the engineer who built it, following the “One Man, One Engine” principle. Turbos housed in the vee, massive torque: 571 hp and 750 Nm for the E63, 612 hp and 850 Nm for the E63 S, for the 2017 to 2023 model years covered by this page.
The particulate filter and oversized silencers have made this V8, known for its thunder, polite; for many owners, it is a breach of the AMG spirit. The Rog cat-back puts it right: valves open, deep rumble and bangs on the overrun; valves closed, your Mercedes becomes a limousine again. The same car, two characters, controlled by a valved system.
No welding is needed: clamps, gaskets and about two hours in the workshop are enough, on a system built to your VIN. The AMG modes control the factory valves if there are any; otherwise, the Rog remote. The E63 W212 5.5 that came before it, the E53 and the E43 each have their own page.
With the turbos housed inside the V, the catalysed downpipe, which the page sells under the “Manifold” option, is the second restriction after the silencer. The 200-cell keeps emissions control and remains the road version for a limousine of this calibre. If you want something more open, the 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat downpipe is reserved for track use, away from any road journey. Without an ECU remap, no extra horsepower. For a saloon of this weight, titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel, makes sense; stainless steel remains the safe choice.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG E63 / E63 S W213 / S213 4.0 V8 biturbo exhaust.
Is the system identical for the E63 and the E63 S W213?
Yes, both versions from 2017 to 2023 are on the same page, for the system as for the front section. The VIN, requested with the order, lets us confirm before starting manufacturing. For the previous generation, the E63 W212 5.5 has a separate page.
What potential for a remapped E63 S W213?
The table on the page rises to 704 hp and 1,050 Nm for the 612 hp E63 S, once the downpipe is fitted and the map entirely redone at an approved tuning centre. The AMG V8 is known to handle this work. For the cat-back alone, the factory map is enough.
Before a vehicle inspection, what should be checked on a modified E63 W213?
Close the valves, and keep the original front section or the 200-cell downpipe: the gases stay treated and the limousine does not exceed its stock level. A 100-cell downpipe is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country. The decat version, reserved for track use, is not part of a configuration you present to an inspector.
Does an equipped E63 W213 resonate at a steady speed?
Not with the valves closed, which send the gases back into the silencer designed for cruising. The thunder only returns when you ask for it, via the AMG modes or the Rog remote.
Does the E63 S213 estate take the same system as the saloon?
Yes. The W213 saloon and the S213 estate take the same Rog system: same chassis, same twin-turbo V8, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Mercedes-AMG E63 / E63 S W213 / S213 4.0 V8 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
