The Mercedes-AMG E53 W213 / S213 exhaust in detail.
The 2020 to 2023 E53 W213 replaced the E43’s V6 with a 3.0-litre inline-six, backed by an electric compressor and a 48 V starter-generator. The result: 435 hp and 520 Nm, instant response at all revs, and an efficiency that the factory exhaust accompanies with almost total silence.
It is a shame, because the inline layout has a naturally deep, silky and even tone. The Rog cat-back finally gives it a voice: with the valves open, body under load and crisp crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the factory refinement returns, true to the grand touring spirit of the E-Class. The principle of a valve exhaust is simple: you choose.
Weld-free fitting, clamps and gaskets, about two hours on a lift. The system is built to your VIN; the valves stay controlled by the AMG modes if the car has them from the factory, otherwise by the Rog remote. The E43 and E63 of the same generation, like the six-cylinder CLS450 C257, have their own page.
On this six-cylinder, the “Manifold” option corresponds to the catalysed downpipe; according to specialist manufacturers, it differs from that of the more recent engines, introduced from 2022 on the CLE53 for example. A 200-cell downpipe keeps emissions control, which is enough for most E53s driven every day. The more open 100-cell version will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the variant without a catalytic converter is reserved for track use, not for grand touring. For this six-cylinder, the page publishes no numerical Stage 2 figure. Titanium around 40% lighter or 304 stainless steel: both withstand daily use.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG E53 W213 / S213 3.0 turbo exhaust.
Can a 2018 or 2019 E53 W213 take the exhaust?
The year 2018 is excluded, and our catalogue covers the E53 W213 from the 2020 to 2023 model years. For a 2019 car, the VIN settles it: we check before manufacturing. The V6 E43 and the V8 E63 have their own pages.
To enjoy the system’s sound, does an E53 W213 need to be remapped?
Not for the cat-back: the factory electronics handle it. An ECU remap is useful if you replace the downpipe; the page publishes no Stage 2 figure for this engine, so the result depends on the tuner.
Does an equipped E53 W213 call for any precautions before the vehicle inspection?
Valves closed, cat-back alone or 200-cell downpipe: the inline-six keeps its catalytic converter active and a stock volume. In 100-cell form, the car will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules. Reserved for track use, the decat downpipe is not part of an inspection configuration.
The E53’s inline-six or the E43 W213’s V6: which sounds best with the Rog exhaust?
The E53’s inline-six sounds deep, silky and smooth; the E43’s twin-turbo V6 is rougher and more uneven at idle. In both cases, the Rog system leaves you the choice between factory discretion and a freed-up voice.
Does the E53 S213 estate take the same system as the saloon?
Yes. The W213 saloon and the S213 estate take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 3.0-litre six-cylinder, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Mercedes-AMG E53 W213 / S213 3.0 turbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
