The Mercedes-Benz CLS450 C257 exhaust in detail.
The CLS450 C257 pairs a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, 367 hp and 500 Nm, with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. A naturally balanced layout, very linear revving, smooth roll-ons: it is the gentlest version in the range, covered here for the 2018 to 2023 model years in 4MATIC form; any rear-wheel-drive version is not documented.
Its tone is one of the most pleasant there is: silky, seamless, loaded with hoarser harmonics under acceleration. As standard, only an elegant murmur remains. On the road to your holidays, with the valves closed, your CLS keeps the hushed silence of a grand tourer; with the valves open, the Rog cat-back reveals a round sound from start-up and a climb through the revs you can finally hear.
Built to your VIN, the valved system fits without welding, with clamps and gaskets, in about two hours. It takes over the factory valve control if there is one, or comes with the Rog remote. The four-cylinder CLS350, the CLS53 AMG and the E53 W213 have their own page.
On this turbocharged six-cylinder, the “Manifold” option corresponds to the downpipe and its catalytic converter. With 200 cells, the downpipe keeps emissions control, an obvious choice for a grand tourer like the CLS450. For the 100-cell version, acceptance will depend on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat variant is reserved for track use. The page publishes no Stage 2: only an ECU remap would turn this part into power. 304 stainless steel matches the silky character of the six-cylinder; titanium, around 40% lighter, adds metallic harmonics.

Questions about the Mercedes-Benz CLS450 C257 3.0 turbo 4MATIC exhaust.
Is a rear-wheel-drive CLS450 C257 covered?
Our page covers the CLS450 4MATIC from 2018 to 2023; no two-wheel-drive version is listed. The simplest option is still to send us the VIN: the check is done before any manufacturing.
Will an equipped CLS450 C257 need its ECU modified?
Not for the cat-back, which leaves the electronic engine management intact. If you add the downpipe, an ECU remap at an approved tuner turns it into power; no Stage 2 figure is published for this six-cylinder.
Mercedes-Benz CLS450 C257 3.0 turbo 4MATIC with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
Valves closed, with the cat-back alone or a 200-cell downpipe, it keeps the stock noise level and emissions control. The 100-cell, however, will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, while the downpipe without a catalytic converter is reserved for track use.
Does the CLS450 C257 stay hushed on long journeys?
Yes: with the valves shut, the silencer does its job and the six-cylinder fades into the background, just as it did on delivery. You only hear it when you want to.
Mercedes-Benz CLS450 C257 3.0 turbo 4MATIC: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
