Mercedes-AMGGLE43 / GLE63 W166 / C292
The Mercedes-AMG GLE63 W166 / C292 exhaust in detail.
The 2015 model year GLE63 W166 keeps the 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 of the AMGs of its generation: 557 hp and 700 Nm to move a large SUV like a sports saloon. The system is designed precisely for that year and the version without the S; the GLE63 W167 with the 4.0-litre V8 that succeeds it and the V6 GLE43 W166 each have their own page.
It is a V8 from the golden era, with a rolling thunder, but its factory exhaust, tuned for limousine buyers, leaves a good part of its acoustic potential under the silencers. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back restores its depth, its presence and its bangs on the overrun; with the valves closed, the original cruising comfort stays intact for long journeys.
Installation in about two hours, with clamps and gaskets, without any welding, on a system built to your VIN. If this GLE has factory-controlled valves, their control is retained; if not, you opt for the Rog remote.
Behind the 5.5-litre’s two turbos, it is the catalysed downpipe that this SUV receives under the “Manifold” option. With 200 cells, the SUV keeps its emissions control and remains an everyday vehicle. For a 100-cell, acceptance will depend on the car and the rules in your country; as for the decat version, it is reserved for track use, somewhere an SUV of this size rarely goes. At Stage 2, with a full ECU remap, our data quotes 720 hp and 1,050 Nm. Titanium lightens the system by around 40% compared with 304 stainless steel, which remains the most popular choice.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG GLE63 W166 / C292 5.5 V8 biturbo exhaust.
Can my GLE63 S W166 or a 2016 GLE63 take this system?
Our page specifically covers the 2015 GLE63 W166 5.5, without the S version, and the front section is only intended for that model year. For any other GLE63, the VIN lets us decide before building.
What power does the page credit to a GLE63 W166 taken to Stage 2?
The table shows 720 hp and 1,050 Nm for this 5.5-litre V8, once the downpipe is fitted and the map entirely redone. Without these two steps, the rear system works with the factory AMG engine management.
Before the vehicle inspection visit, what do you recommend for a modified GLE63 W166?
Closed valves and an original or 200-cell front section: the SUV then keeps its stock sound and treated exhaust gases. On this 2015 GLE, a 100-cell downpipe will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country: best to check before booking an appointment. The decat version, reserved for track use, is not part of this configuration.
Does a modified GLE63 W166 remain a good family tourer?
Yes: as long as the valves are shut, the silencer absorbs the flow and the cabin stays calm on the motorway. The V8 only speaks up again when you ask it to.
Does the GLE63 Coupé C292 take the same system as the SUV?
Yes. The W166 SUV and the C292 Coupé take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Mercedes-AMG GLE63 W166 / C292 5.5 V8 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
