The Mercedes-Benz GLC300 X253 exhaust in detail.
Designed for efficiency and flexibility, the GLC300 X253’s 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder produces 245 hp, up to 258 hp depending on the version, and 370 Nm from low revs: the SUV moves effortlessly, even loaded, and merges onto fast roads with complete ease. The page covers model years 2015 to 2019; the GLC43 and GLC63 of the same generation, like the GLC300 X254 that succeeds it, have their own pages.
The factory exhaust was designed with a single goal, silence, and this engine’s deep, understated tone loses all personality in it. The Rog cat-back, valved or with valves as some call it, gives it a rounder, more assertive sound from start-up and with every acceleration; closed, it gives the GLC back the calm that makes it a family road companion.
In the workshop, about two hours are enough to remove the GLC’s factory exhaust and fit ours, made to your VIN, with clamps and gaskets. The valves follow the factory control if the SUV has one; otherwise, the Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells the 2.0-litre’s downpipe, with its catalytic converter. For a family SUV, the 200-cell version, which keeps emissions control, is the most sensible. On an SUV of this type, the 100-cell, accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version, reserved for track use, add nothing to everyday family life. For the remapped 245 hp version, the table on the page shows 280 hp and 450 Nm. As for the material, 304 stainless steel is enough for most GLCs, with titanium, around 40% lighter, chosen mainly for its colour.

Questions about the Mercedes-Benz GLC300 X253 2.0 turbo exhaust.
My GLC X253 is a GLC250, or a 2020 GLC300: is the system designed for it?
Our page only documents the 2015 to 2019 GLC300 X253; the GLC250 and the 2020 to 2022 model years are not proven. With your VIN, we check the specific case before starting any manufacturing.
Is fitting the downpipe on a GLC300 X253 enough to gain horsepower?
No, it has to be combined with an ECU remap, with which the page quotes 280 hp and 450 Nm for the 245 hp GLC300. Without one, the downpipe changes the sound and the mass. Fitted on its own, the cat-back leaves the SUV’s electronic engine management as it is.
Mercedes-Benz GLC300 X253 2.0 turbo with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
In a GLC300 X253 fitted with the system, do rear passengers have to put up with the sound all the time?
No: as long as the valves stay closed, the cabin keeps its original calm, on the school run as on the motorway. The engine’s voice only appears when you open them.
Mercedes-Benz GLC300 X253 2.0 turbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
