BentleyContinental GT / GTC (2011-2017)
The Bentley Continental GT / GTC V8 exhaust in detail.
Lighter at the nose than the W12, sharper and naturally more talkative, the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 is the driver’s choice in the Continental GT range. It is rated at 500 hp and 660 Nm for the 2014 to 2017 model years covered by this page. Bentley already gave it a more expressive voice than the twelve-cylinder, but always within the bounds of Crewe refinement; Continental GT W12 models of other generations have their own pages.
All of this engine’s reserve of character therefore remains to be freed. With the valves open, our valved cat-back lets you hear a thoroughbred V8 rumble, a commanding climb and refined bangs when you lift off; close them, and the Continental becomes the rolling lounge it must also know how to be again, in town as on a long stage.
The rear gets paired round tailpipes. No welding is needed: clamps and gaskets connect the system in about two hours, and the original valve control is retained if the car has it; otherwise, the Rog remote, with its small box hidden in the boot, does the job.
The page also offers the “Manifold” option, which on this twin-turbo corresponds to the downpipes, carrying the catalytic converters at the turbo outlets, and which is only documented in our records for the GT coupé. A grand tourer from Crewe spends most of its life on the road: the 200-cell downpipes, which keep emissions control, are right at home there, whereas with 100 cells they are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and in decat form they are reserved for track use. As the ECU is not touched, the V8 keeps its factory 500 hp and only gains voice. 304 stainless steel serves the V8’s bass, titanium lightens it by around 40% and comes in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Bentley Continental GT / GTC V8 4.0 exhaust.
Continental GTC V8: does the convertible also benefit from this system?
Yes for the system: the 2014 to 2017 GT and GTC V8 are covered, the system being built to your VIN for each body style. The downpipes are only documented for the coupé: for a GTC, send us the VIN before ordering this option and we check.
Should the Continental GT V8 go on the dyno for an ECU remap?
Not for the cat-back, which leaves the V8 at 500 hp with its factory management. It becomes worthwhile with the downpipes; we do not publish a Stage 2 figure here, as the figures recorded for this engine do not agree between our sources.
Before handing a Continental GT V8 over for vehicle inspection, what should I check?
Present it with the valves shut, and the V8 immediately regains the reserve its engineers intended. With the cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipes, the catalytic converters carry on working. For 100-cell downpipes, the answer depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules; without a catalytic converter, this Bentley should no longer leave a circuit.
V8 or W12: which Continental sounds best with the exhaust?
The V8 is more vocal by nature, with a thoroughbred rumble and bangs on the overrun; the W12 has a denser, smoother voice. Each has its own page: choose the one that matches your registration document.
Bentley Continental GT / GTC V8 4.0: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
