Which valved exhaust for a BMW 420i or 430i G22, G23 or G26?
The Rog system for the BMW 420i and 430i B48 is a valved cat-back exhaust for the G22 coupé, G23 convertible and G26 Gran Coupé, built to your VIN in 304 stainless steel or titanium for the 184 or 245 hp four-cylinder. Valves open, the 4 Series gains a rich, muscular sound every time you accelerate; closed, it stays as quiet as the day it was delivered.
Sound, options and fitting in detail: our BMW 420i / 430i G22 guide.
G22 coupé, G23 convertible or G26 Gran Coupé, the new-generation 4 Series has the style of a modern grand tourer and, in both 420i and 430i form, a 2.0-litre B48 turbo under the bonnet. The 420i is rated at 184 hp and 300 Nm, the 430i at 245 hp and 400 Nm. This page covers the 2021 to 2023 model years; the six-cylinder M440i has its own page.
Between the G22’s assertive looks and the silence of its engine, the gap is real: the B48, calibrated for efficiency, leaves the factory with no sonic character. Our cat-back bridges that gap with a richer, more muscular sound, adjustable thanks to the valves: open, crisp crackles and a presence that accompanies every roll-on; closed, the calm of an everyday coupé. On the G23 convertible, roof down, the effect is even more pronounced.
Built to your VIN, the system fits without welding, with clamps and gaskets, in about two hours on a lift. The factory valve control stays active if your 4 Series has it; otherwise, the Rog remote, with its discreet box in the boot, takes care of it.
The “Manifold” option refers to the B48’s downpipe, which carries the catalytic converter; as long as the ECU stays stock, it only brings voice and a little lightness. Coupé or convertible, the G22 and G23 keep their emissions control with the 200-cell variant; the 100-cell one is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. For the cat-back, titanium is around 40% lighter and comes in colours, while 304 stainless steel remains the sensible choice for a recent car.

Questions about the BMW 420i / 430i G22 / G23 / G26 2.0T exhaust.
Can a 430i G22 registered outside the 2021-2023 range be equipped?
The page covers 2021 to 2023, the only range documented in our records; for another model year, send us the VIN and we check before manufacturing begins.
420i or 430i: what does an ECU remap bring?
With a downpipe and a map from an approved tuner, the published Stage 2 figures are 310 hp and 460 Nm for the 420i, 340 hp and 510 Nm for the 430i; the cat-back alone works with the standard electronics.
What should be planned before the vehicle inspection of a 420i or 430i G22?
Very little: drive to the centre with the valves closed and keep a front section that cleans the gases, factory or 200-cell, for a coupé that presents as new; with the 100-cell, acceptance depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
G22 coupé, G23 convertible or G26 Gran Coupé: is the system identical?
Yes. The G22 coupé, the G23 convertible and the G26 Gran Coupé take the same Rog system: same B48, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Can a 184 hp 420i really gain sound character?
Yes, because a turbocharged four-cylinder responds very well to a well-engineered system: with the valves open, the 420i gains a full tone and crisp crackles, without chasing volume at all costs.
BMW 420i / 430i G22 / G23 / G26 2.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW 420i / 430i G22 / G23 / G26 2.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
