    A question about this exhaust?

    BMW2 Series F22 / F23

    The BMW M235i F22 / F23 exhaust in detail.

The M235i started the line of M Performance coupés, with a chassis that won over the press from launch. It receives the N55, a 3.0-litre single-turbo inline-six: 326 hp and 450 Nm, for the 2014 to 2016 model years. Ten years on, it has become an enthusiast’s buy. The M240i that succeeded it with the B58 has its own page, as does the M2 N55.

Deep and mechanical, the N55 has a thicker voice than the six-cylinders that replaced it, and it is precisely this tone that the factory exhaust holds back. Rid of its superfluous filters, it gains a strong presence from idle and a gravelly climb. With our valved cat-back, the weekend road is driven with the valves open, and the Monday morning commute with the valves closed, in a discreet M235i.

Your exhaust is manufactured to the VIN, then fitted without welding or cutting using clamps and gaskets, in about two hours. For control, the M235i keeps its original logic if it has factory valves; otherwise, the Rog remote opens and closes them at the press of a button.

Under the “Manifold” option, the page sells the downpipe that starts at the turbo and carries the catalytic converter; it is with an ECU remap that it really changes the game, on its own it only affects voice and weight. If your M235i must keep controlling emissions, go for 200 cells; the 100-cell version, for its part, is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. 304 stainless steel underlines the single-turbo’s deep grain, while titanium, around 40% lighter, comes in brushed, gold or purple to sign off the coupé’s rear.

    Questions about the BMW M235i F22 / F23 3.0T exhaust.

Coupé or convertible: which M235i does this system fit?

Both. The F22 coupé and the F23 convertible, sold from 2015 to 2016, take the same Rog system, with the same N55 and the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the model year before manufacturing.

What figures does an M235i reach when remapped with the downpipe?

The published Stage 2 figures for the 326 hp M235i are 410 hp and 600 Nm, achieved with the downpipe and a map from an approved tuner; the cat-back alone requires no ECU remap.

BMW M235i N55 3.0T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?

With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.

Four exits on an M235i: does the diffuser need changing?

The system provides four tailpipes, which require a matching rear diffuser; we check this point with you and your VIN before starting manufacturing.

Does the M235i’s N55 sound better in stainless steel or titanium?

304 stainless steel showcases its deep, round tone; titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, brings a more metallic note at high revs and three finishes to choose from.

    BMW M235i F22 / F23 3.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

    BMW M235i F22 / F23 3.0T: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
