The BMW M440i G26 Gran Coupé exhaust in detail.
The M440i G26 combines the sleek lines of the 4 Series Gran Coupé, the practicality of its four doors and a B58, a 3.0-litre inline-six built around a closed-deck aluminium block. A single twin-scroll turbo, 374 hp and 500 Nm: continuous thrust, with no dips, gear after gear. The M440i G22 coupé and G23 convertible, presented on their own page, take the same system, and your VIN lets us confirm your Gran Coupé’s model year.
Because it is turbocharged, the B58 already loses part of its voice in the turbine, and the G26’s factory system, designed for high-mileage drivers, filters the rest: only a sanitised version of a smooth inline-six gets through, velvety at idle and more intense at the top of the rev range. With the valves open, our cat-back gives the Gran Coupé a frank, continuous sound and more expressive lift-offs; with them closed, the M440i becomes a discreet cruiser in traffic again.
Four doors, a tailgate and a long rear overhang make no difference: installation is done without welding, in about two hours, with clamps and gaskets, and the Gran Coupé keeps its factory valve control or receives the Rog remote.
Under the “Manifold” option, the page sells the B58’s downpipe and its catalytic converter; it only becomes a power gain with an ECU remap, and otherwise remains a matter of voice and lightness. For a Gran Coupé that eats up the miles, the natural choice remains the 200-cell downpipe, which preserves emissions control; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use. 304 stainless steel and titanium, around 40% lighter and finished in brushed, gold or purple, are offered for this valved cat-back.

Questions about the BMW M440i B58 G26 exhaust.
Is the G26 Gran Coupé system the same as the G22 coupé system?
Yes. The G26 Gran Coupé, the G22 coupé and the G23 convertible take the same Rog system: same B58, same rear section, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. The coupé and the convertible are presented on their own page; your VIN is only used to confirm the model year before manufacturing.
What figures can an M440i G26 aim for at Stage 2?
With the downpipe and a map from an approved tuner, the page quotes 440 hp and 620 Nm; the cat-back alone fits without any change to the ECU.
Does the vehicle inspection of a tuned M440i G26 call for any precautions?
Two simple things: arrive with the valves closed, and drive with a front section that treats emissions, original or 200-cell; this way the Gran Coupé presents itself as it left the factory, while a 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and a decat version is reserved for track use.
Why is the G26 so discreet from the factory?
Because its factory system is tuned for high-mileage drivers who value calm; our cat-back keeps that calm available with the valves closed, and gives back the B58’s voice with them open.
With four adults on a long journey, does the equipped M440i G26 stay relaxing?
Yes, as long as the valves stay closed: the cruising silencer does its work, no drone tires the passengers, and the inline-six only wakes when you ask.
BMW M440i B58 G26: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
