The BMW M850i G14 / G15 / G16 exhaust in detail.
G14 convertible, G15 coupé or G16 Gran Coupé: the M850i is the rational grand tourer of the 8 Series, without the price or the radical edge of the M8. Its 4.4-litre twin-turbo N63, with the turbos in the vee, delivers 530 hp and a massive 750 Nm, with instant response. The 2020 to 2026 model years are the ones our page covers, with the six-cylinder 840i and the M8 presented on other pages.
The N63’s natural sound is among the finest in the BMW range, deep and pulsing, but between the particulate filter and silencers sized for total soundproofing, almost nothing of it is left outside. Open the valves on the Rog cat-back: the V8 finally rumbles, with a full, authoritative climb; close them, and the 8 Series remains the hushed GT for early-morning departures. Two cars in one.
On all three body styles, fitting is identical: no welding, clamps and gaskets, about two hours, for an exhaust made to your VIN and controlled by the factory control or the Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells the N63’s front section, with its catalytic converter; on its own, it adds voice and removes a little weight, with horsepower coming from an ECU remap. With 530 hp already on tap, most M850is stay with 200 cells, which preserves emissions control; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. Titanium or 304 stainless steel: the former removes around 40% of the mass, the latter gives a thicker bass.

Questions about the BMW M850i G14 / G15 / G16 4.4TT exhaust.
Are the very first M850i models, from 2018 or 2019, compatible?
Our page starts in 2020; for those early cars, provide the VIN and we will reply before building.
Can the M850i match an M8 at Stage 2?
Almost: the N63 is held back from the factory to preserve the hierarchy, and the published figures reach 700 hp and 980 Nm with the front section and an ECU remap at an approved tuner; the cat-back alone requires no map.
Vehicle inspection: how should a modified M850i be presented?
Like a standard GT: engine idling, valves closed, factory catalytic converters or 200-cell front section, and the N63 fades into the background; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
M850i convertible, coupé or Gran Coupé: a system for each?
Just one, according to our page, which lists the G14, G15 and G16 together; the VIN requested when ordering is used to adjust the mountings specific to your body style.
Does titanium change the sound of the M850i’s V8?
A little: for the same design, it weighs around 40% less and gives a brighter note at high revs, whereas 304 stainless steel keeps a thicker bass.
BMW M850i G14 / G15 / G16 4.4TT: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW M850i G14 / G15 / G16 4.4TT: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
