The BMW X4 M40i G02 exhaust in detail.
The X4 M40i G02 is the smart compromise of the range: the B58, a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six, in a coupé SUV, without paying X4 M prices. It delivers 360 hp and 500 Nm, before and after the 2021 facelift, and our page covers it from 2018 to 2025. The X4 M F98, with its twin-turbo S58, has its own page, as does the four-cylinder X4 G02.
BMW kept the sound for the rev counter: a particulate filter and oversized silencers smother an engine with a naturally round, metallic tone. The B58’s acoustic potential is there; it just needs releasing. With the valves open, our cat-back lets through a rounded bass note at idle, a smooth climb and crisp crackles; with the valves closed, the coupé SUV regains its factory discretion for weekday journeys.
The system is bent to your VIN and connects without welding using clamps and gaskets, in about two hours; its valves follow the factory driving modes where they exist, otherwise the Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells the B58’s downpipe and its catalytic converter; without an ECU remap, it adds a little voice and removes a few kilos, without extra horsepower. With the 200-cell version, the coupé SUV continues to treat its exhaust gases as from the factory, while the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country and the decat version is reserved for track use. On the cat-back side, 304 stainless steel gives a full tone, while titanium, around 40% lighter, gives a clearer note and a colour of your choice.

Questions about the BMW X4 M40i G02 3.0T exhaust.
My X4 M40i G02 was built after the 2021 facelift: is it covered?
Yes, the page covers the M40i G02 from 2018 to 2025, including the 2021 facelift, with the same 360 hp engine; your VIN confirms compatibility before manufacturing.
Does an X4 M40i G02’s B58 respond well to Stage 2?
The B58 is one of the star pupils when it comes to tuning: 440 hp and 620 Nm stated on the page, provided you add the downpipe and a map from an approved tuning centre, with the cat-back on its own making do with the standard electronics.
What should I check on a modified X4 M40i G02 before vehicle inspection?
That the valves are closed and that the front section still cleans the gases, factory or 200-cell: the coupé SUV then presents like a standard model; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
X4 M40i or X4 M: why not the same exhaust?
The engines differ, the B58 on one side, the twin-turbo S58 on the other, and each system is designed for its own; the X4 M F98 has its page.
Can the X4 M40i G02 stay discreet day to day?
Yes, with the valves closed it keeps its standard calm; the inline-six only speaks up when you ask, via the drive modes or the remote.
BMW X4 M40i G02 3.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW X4 M40i G02 3.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

The X4 M40i is the clever compromise: the M Performance straight-six in a coupé SUV, without paying X4 M prices. But BMW kept the drama for the rev counter: the factory exhaust muffles everything. The acoustic potential of the B58...
