The BMW X4 G02 2.0T exhaust in detail.
The X4 G02 combines the sloping silhouette of a coupé SUV with the proven platform of the X3, and its 2.0-litre petrol version relies on the B48, a flexible and lively turbocharged four-cylinder. The xDrive20i starts at 184 hp and 290 Nm, the xDrive30i rises to 252 hp and 350 Nm before the facelift, which adds mild hybridisation. From 2018 to 2025, this coupé SUV takes the same system, with the X4 M40i and X4 M presented elsewhere.
The B48 has a richer sound than you would expect from a four-cylinder, a muffled bass at idle then a hoarse grain that hardens under acceleration; the X4’s factory exhaust turns it into flat background noise, out of step with the coupé SUV look you chose. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives it a rounder bass at start-up and acceleration you can hear; with the valves closed, it stays as hushed as the factory setup.
Not a single weld on the body: the system, made to your VIN, is fixed with clamps and gaskets in about two hours, with valves controlled by the factory drive modes or by the Rog remote.
Here the “Manifold” option sells the B48’s downpipe; fitted without an ECU remap, it only changes the sound and slightly the weight. A 200-cell sports catalytic converter keeps the coupé SUV able to control its emissions; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, with the decat version remaining reserved for track use. The cat-back, for its part, can be ordered in 304 stainless steel or in titanium around 40% lighter, in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the BMW X4 G02 2.0T exhaust.
Do all 2.0-litre petrol versions of the X4 G02 receive this exhaust?
Our page groups the xDrive20i and xDrive30i, before and after the facelift, under the 2018 to 2025 X4 G02 2.0T; your VIN lets us confirm yours.
Can an X4 G02’s B48 be pushed further with an ECU remap?
The page publishes Stage 2 figures of 310 hp and 480 Nm for the 252 hp xDrive30i, and 280 hp and 440 Nm for the 184 hp xDrive20i; nothing is published for the facelifted mild hybrids, and the cat-back on its own requires no map.
How should a modified X4 G02 be presented at vehicle inspection?
With its valves closed and its catalytic converter, the factory one or the 200-cell downpipe’s: the four-cylinder then seems as well-behaved as in the showroom; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
Can an X4 G02’s four-cylinder match the sound to the style?
Yes: with the valves open, the B48 takes on a deeper, more present voice in keeping with the coupé SUV silhouette, then returns to its factory calm as soon as you close them.
Do the X4 G02’s driving modes keep control of the valves?
They keep controlling them if the coupé SUV has them from the factory; otherwise, a box in the boot and two buttons on the Rog remote act as the control.
BMW X4 G02 2.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW X4 G02 2.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
