The BMW X4 F26 2.0T exhaust in detail.
BMW’s first compact coupé SUV, the X4 F26 combines the ride height of a crossover with the sloping profile of a coupé. With the 2.0-litre petrol engine, it gets the N20, a four-cylinder with direct injection and a twin-scroll turbo: 184 hp and 270 Nm in xDrive20i form, 245 hp and 350 Nm in xDrive28i form. According to the guide, the six-cylinder X4 F26 3.0T uses the same system, but each keeps its own page, as does the X4 M40i.
The N20 has a hoarse, eager voice, with marked turbo whoosh, which the factory exhaust renders almost mute: the coupé SUV seems tamer than its design suggests. With the valves open, our cat-back gives it a presence that matches its silhouette, an assertive start-up and audible acceleration; with the valves closed, the X4 regains its touring calm for the family and long journeys.
For fitting, the system bent to your VIN connects without welding using clamps and gaskets, in about two hours, with the factory valve control retained if it exists or a two-button Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells the N20’s downpipe, which houses the catalytic converter; on its own, it merely enriches the voice and slightly reduces weight, with the horsepower coming from the map. The N20 in this first X4 keeps controlling its emissions with the 200-cell catalyst; the 100-cell one is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. For the cat-back, 304 stainless steel remains the understated choice and titanium, around 40% lighter, the colourful one.

Questions about the BMW X4 F26 2.0T exhaust.
My X4 F26 is an xDrive28i: is the system different from the xDrive20i?
Yes, our page groups them under the X4 F26 2.0-litre without distinguishing them; the VIN requested with the order allows us to confirm your version and model year.
A remapped X4 F26 with the N20 engine: how much horsepower?
Two starting points, two results: 280 hp and 450 Nm quoted for the xDrive20i, 320 hp and 480 Nm for the xDrive28i, once the downpipe is fitted and the map redone by an approved tuner; without that, the cat-back keeps the standard engine management.
Vehicle inspection: which configuration for an X4 F26 2.0T?
The simplest: factory catalytic converter or 200-cell downpipe, valves closed, and the coupé SUV presents itself just as it left the factory; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
Do the four-cylinder and six-cylinder X4 F26 have the same system?
The guide says so: the same body and the same rear underbody; each engine nonetheless keeps its own page, and your VIN decides before manufacturing.
Can an X4’s N20 really live up to its style?
Yes, its gruff, eager voice, released with the valves open, finally gives the coupé SUV a presence to match its silhouette.
BMW X4 F26 2.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW X4 F26 2.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
