The BMW X4 M F98 exhaust in detail.
The X4 M F98 takes the X3 M base under a more sloping roofline: the same chassis and the same S58, a 3.0-litre twin-turbo inline-six of pure M pedigree, with 480 hp in base form, 510 hp in Competition, 600 Nm then 650 Nm after the 2021 facelift. We have documented the 2019 to 2025 model years, and according to the guide the system is shared with the X3 M F97, which keeps its own page.
The factory exhaust muzzles this engine instead of letting it speak, even though it revs with rare eagerness. Here, you choose the tone: Standard for the raw presence of the twin-turbo; Equal Length, whose balanced pipes raise the note in frequency, smoother and less rasping; Equal Length + Z-pipe, whose Z-shaped geometry crosses the flows for a very high, exotic top end.
With the valves closed, the coupé SUV stays civilised; open, the S58 gives its full voice. Beneath the coupé SUV’s rear valance, two hours are enough to connect, without welding, a system bent to your VIN, which the factory control or the Rog remote will then operate.
The “Manifold” option sells the S58’s downpipes; on their own, they change the sound and the mass, with power coming from an ECU remap. To keep the emissions control of a road-going X4 M, take them with 200 cells; with 100 cells, they are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. Titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel, pairs well with Equal Length.

Equal Length gives the S58 a higher-pitched, smoother note, that of a true inline-six; the Z-pipe pushes it higher still, into an exotic register reserved for fans of extreme sound experiences.
