The BMW Z4 M40i G29 exhaust in detail.
The Z4 M40i is the roadster BMW built around the B58, the 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six that also powers the Toyota Supra: 340 hp and 500 Nm, in a short, agile chassis. Our page describes it from 2019 to 2026. The four-cylinder Z4 G29 models have their own page, and the X3 M40i shares its engine but not its exhaust system.
With the wind in your hair, the sound should be half the pleasure; yet the factory exhaust, tuned for regulations with a particulate filter and oversized silencers, deprives the driver of the very essence of a roadster: hearing its engine. With the valves open, our cat-back releases a round bass note at idle, a full climb and crisp crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the Z4 regains its factory discretion for town.
No welding for fitting: clamps, gaskets and about two hours, with a system bent to your VIN; the drive modes keep control of the factory valves, or the Rog remote replaces them.
As for the front section, the “Manifold” option sells the inline-six’s downpipe, which only brings the M40i more horsepower once the map is adapted; on its own, it mainly enriches the voice. With a 200-cell converter, it keeps the roadster’s emissions control; in 100-cell form, the car is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules; in decat form, it is reserved for track use. Titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel, suits such a light car well, and comes in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the BMW Z4 M40i G29 3.0T exhaust.
Is the late-series Z4 M40i G29, up to 2026, covered?
Yes, our page covers it from 2019 to 2026; send us your roadster’s VIN and we check before building.
Does the Z4 M40i’s B58 respond well to Stage 2?
Very well: the page publishes 440 hp and 620 Nm with a downpipe and an ECU remap at an approved centre; the cat-back alone fits without any electronic intervention.
BMW Z4 M40i G29 3.0T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
The Z4 M40i and the Supra have the same engine: the same system?
No, the B58 is shared, but each car has its own body and system; this one is designed for the Z4 G29, and your VIN confirms it.
With the roof open, does the Z4’s inline-six become intrusive?
With the valves closed, no: the roadster keeps its stock calm; with the valves open, the B58 accompanies your driving, at your discretion.
BMW Z4 M40i G29 3.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW Z4 M40i G29 3.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
