The BMW X6 40i B58 G06 exhaust in detail.
The X6 40i G06 derives directly from the X5 G05, taking its engine and underbody beneath a sloping roofline. Under the bonnet, the B58: a 3.0-litre inline-six, twin-scroll turbo and direct injection, 340 hp and 450 Nm available from low revs. Our page covers it from 2019 to 2022; according to the guide, the X5 40i takes the same system, and the V8 X6 M50i has its own page.
Under this sloping roofline, the B58 should let a smooth song be heard that takes on a metallic edge as it climbs, but the standard exhaust leaves only a rustle, at odds with the X6’s sporty looks. With the valves open, our cat-back gives the X6 a muted bass note at start-up and a steady, broad climb; with the valves closed, it becomes the quiet long-distance cruiser your passengers know again.
The system, made to your VIN, attaches without welding with clamps and gaskets in about two hours; the driving modes keep control of the factory valves, or the Rog remote takes over.
Under the “Manifold” option, the page offers to replace the inline-six’s downpipe, a part that only adds horsepower to the X6 40i with an ECU remap, and only voice without one. Chosen in 200-cell form, it leaves the coupé SUV with its emissions control; with 100 cells, it is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; in decat form, it is reserved for track use. On the cat-back side, 304 stainless steel nurtures the inline-six’s roundness, titanium, around 40% lighter, the look of the outlets.

Questions about the BMW X6 40i B58 G06 3.0T exhaust.
Is the 2023 X6 40i G06, straddling two cut-offs on the page, compatible?
Our page limits the cat-back to 2023 and the front part to 2022; for a 2023 or newer example, send us the VIN and we check before building.
What can a remapped X6 40i G06 deliver?
According to the page, 440 hp and 620 Nm, which is more torque than the figure published for the X5 40i, once the downpipe is fitted and the map redone; with the cat-back alone, the coupé SUV keeps its 340 hp.
BMW X6 40i B58 G06 3.0T with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.
X6 40i and X5 40i: the same exhaust?
The guide says so, as the G06 takes the G05’s base; the two SUVs have their own page, and your VIN confirms compatibility before manufacturing.
At 130 km/h, does the X6 40i’s cabin stay hushed?
Yes, with the valves closed, the silencer designed for cruising absorbs the inline-six’s pulses; you only hear it when you choose to.
BMW X6 40i B58 G06 3.0T: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW X6 40i B58 G06 3.0T: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

The 2019 to 2022 X5 40i G05 and X6 40i G06 share the B58, a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six with 340 hp and 450 Nm. A smooth, refined engine, fitted in two large SUVs whose factory exhaust lets almost nothing through....
