The BMW X6 M F96 exhaust in detail.
The third generation of BMW M coupé SUV, the X6 M F96 uses the S63, a 4.4-litre V8 with its turbos housed in the vee: 600 hp, or 625 hp as a Competition, and 750 Nm, with thrust that never fades. Since the April 2023 facelift, the Competition has received the S68, a 4.4-litre V8 with 48 V mild-hybrid technology, still with 625 hp and 750 Nm. Cars built since 2020 are covered. According to the guide, its exhaust is shared with the X5 M F95, each keeping its own page; the X6 M F86 has its own.
This engine has a hoarse, tight voice, typical of hot-vee V8s, that crackles on the overrun; the F96’s factory exhaust reduces it to a polished rumble, and you feel the violence of the acceleration without hearing its source. With the valves open, our cat-back lets the V8 roar with every acceleration, with clear bangs on downshifts; with the valves closed, the X6 M regains a sound suited to long journeys.
The system, built to your VIN, installs with clamps and gaskets in about two hours, without welding; the valves stay controlled by the factory control or by the Rog remote.
The “Manifold” option sells the V8’s downpipes and their catalytic converters; with factory engine management, they bring voice and a little lightness, not horsepower. For the road, the 200-cell catalysed downpipes keep the F96 able to control its emissions; the 100-cell ones are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use. For the cat-back, 304 stainless steel with a thick bass or titanium around 40% lighter, in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the BMW X6 M F96 4.4TT exhaust.
Is a facelifted X6 M Competition F96 covered?
Yes, the page groups the 600 and 625 hp versions built since 2020, including the facelift; your VIN allows us to confirm yours before manufacturing.
Can the V8 in an X6 M F96 still gain power?
The page publishes 850 hp and 1,170 Nm for the 600 hp version as for the pre-facelift Competition, with downpipes and an ECU remap by a tuner who knows the platform; nothing is published for the facelifted Competition.
Is a modified X6 M F96 presentable at vehicle inspection?
Yes: with the valves closed, the V8 stays refined, and emissions control remains with the factory front section or 200-cell downpipes; the 100-cell is accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use.
X6 M F96 or X5 M F95: which exhaust?
The same, according to our guide, as the two SUVs share their mechanicals; we keep one page per model and check your VIN before starting manufacturing.
Why does the standard X6 M sound so polished?
Its turbos in the centre of the vee already filter the pulses, and the factory exhaust, designed for comfort, finishes the job; our cat-back lets the rest through with the valves open.
BMW X6 M F96 4.4TT: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
BMW X6 M F96 4.4TT: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
