Valved Exhaust System for Ferrari 458 Italia / 458 Spider V8 4.5 (2011-2015)
Configuration
Ferrari 458 Italia / 458 Spider V8 4.5 Valved Exhaust System (2011-2015)
Valves
Operated by remote control, factory-paired.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.
Configuration guide
Sound intensity with the valves open, on a scale of 0 to 10.
| Configuration | Intensity |
|---|---|
| Decat manifolds + Rog cat-back | 10/10 |
| 100-cell sports catalytic converter + Rog cat-back | 9/10 |
| 200-cell sports catalytic converter + Rog cat-back | 8/10 |
| Rog cat-back only, factory catalytic converter retained | 7/10 |
| Factory exhaust, for comparison | 3/10 |
The Ferrari 458 Italia / 458 Spider exhaust in detail.
Nine thousand rpm: that is where the 458’s 4.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 delivers its 570 hp, and that is where the stock system keeps the most for itself. Its flat-plane crankshaft gives that shrill scream, almost furious near the red line, that the whole world associates with Maranello. With the valved Rog cat-back and the valves open, the high harmonics come through unfiltered; with the valves closed, the car stays liveable, close to its factory discretion.
The page is for the Ferrari 458 with the 4.5-litre engine, 570 hp and 540 Nm, for the 2011 to 2015 model years. Its predecessor, the 430 Scuderia, and its turbocharged successor, the 488, are covered on separate pages. Italia coupé or Spider, the system is the same; the VIN you send us when ordering confirms the model year before manufacturing.
About two hours on a lift, with no welding or cutting: high-strength band clamps and gaskets are all it takes. If the car has factory valves, the system takes over their control and the drive modes stay in charge; otherwise, our remote opens and closes them with a single touch.
On the 458, the front section is the manifolds themselves, with integrated catalytic converter, sold under the “Manifold” option. On a naturally aspirated engine, their geometry influences cylinder filling at high revs: count on a real but modest gain, 3 to 8%, only with an ECU remap, and emissions control retained with 200 cells. 304 stainless steel or titanium around 40% lighter for the same design; titanium can be chosen in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Ferrari 458 Italia / Spider 4.5 V8 exhaust.
Does the system fit a 458 Spider?
Yes. The 458 Italia and the 458 Spider take the same Rog system: same chassis, same 4.5-litre 570 hp V8, same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Sport manifolds on my 458: what can an ECU remap add afterwards?
With the cat-back alone, it is not necessary. If you also fit the sport manifolds, the map is what turns the flow into power: the Stage 2 figures published for the 458 reach 620 hp and 588 Nm, compared with 570 hp and 540 Nm stock.
Vehicle inspection: which configuration should I choose for a 458?
For the test, close the valves: the 458 becomes as discreet as when it left the factory. The cat-back alone and the 200-cell manifolds preserve emissions control. 100-cell manifolds will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules; a decat 458, however, is reserved for track use, far from test centres.
Can the engine warning light come on in a 458 with sport manifolds?
It can happen: the sensor placed after the catalytic converter reads less emissions treatment than stock, without this being a fault. An ECU remap adjusts the sensor and a diagnostic tool session clears the fault code; write to us if it happens and we will point you in the right direction.
Ferrari 458 Italia / Spider 4.5 V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
