The Ferrari 488 GTB / Spider exhaust in detail.
The first twin-turbo V8 in Ferrari’s berlinettas of this generation, the 488’s 3.9-litre gained in efficiency what it lost in scream compared with the 458: the turbos already filter part of the sound, and the factory system, 10.8 kg according to our page, finishes the job. The Rog valved cat-back goes after what is missing, with rage restored at high revs, high harmonics and sharp bangs on the overrun, valves open. Closed, the car crosses town incognito.
It is designed for the Ferrari 488 with the 3.9 twin-turbo V8, 670 hp and 760 Nm, model years 2015 to 2019. Whether your car is a GTB or a Spider, the system is the same; its VIN lets us confirm the model year before manufacturing. Its successor, the F8 Spider, is covered on a separate page.
In the workshop, the 488 only needs band clamps and gaskets: no welding or cutting, and about two hours on a lift. Factory valves, if your car has them, keep their control through the drive modes; otherwise, the Rog remote decides on its own, with its box in the boot.
On this turbocharged V8, the front part is a downpipe, the pipe that starts at the turbo with the catalytic converter; the page offers it under the “Manifold” option. It is the only real lever for power, and only with an ECU remap: without one, expect sound and a little less weight. Chosen in 200-cell form, this downpipe lets the 488’s catalytic converter control emissions as it did from the factory. Against a 10.8 kg factory exhaust, titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel for the same design, makes perfect sense; it comes in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Ferrari 488 GTB / Spider 3.9 V8 biturbo exhaust.
488 GTB or 488 Spider: is the system the same?
Yes, the same. The 488 GTB and the 488 Spider share the 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 and take the same Rog system, fitted with clamps and gaskets. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
After the downpipe, does the 488 need an ECU remap?
Yes if you want horsepower: it is the map that converts the flow into power, up to the published Stage 2 figures of 767 hp and 924 Nm. It also recalibrates the post-cat sensor, which can light the warning lamp with a sports downpipe. The cat-back alone does without.
Vehicle inspection: which 488 configuration should be presented?
A 488 with its valves closed, with the original front section or the 200-cell downpipe: sound close to stock, emissions control retained. Beyond that, things get complicated: the 100-cell downpipe will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat 488 is reserved for track use.
On a 488, 304 stainless steel or titanium: which to choose?
The factory exhaust weighs 10.8 kg according to our page. 304 stainless steel gives a full sound and copes with winter; titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design, sounds more metallic at high revs and comes in brushed, gold or purple.
Ferrari 488 GTB / Spider 3.9 V8 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
