The Ferrari Portofino exhaust in detail.
Retractable roof, 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8, 600 hp and 760 Nm: the Portofino is the everyday open-top Ferrari, and under the open sky every decibel counts double. This page covers the 2020 model year, the only one documented in our records. The Portofino M is neither automatically included nor excluded: for it, as for an older car, we check against the VIN before manufacturing.
The turbos already swallow part of the V8’s voice; the factory exhaust takes care of the rest. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives it back a frank presence at high revs, high harmonics and thoroughbred bangs on the overrun, a show best enjoyed with the roof folded. With the valves closed, the Portofino becomes a discreet GT again, close to its factory sound.
Fitting is done without welding or cutting: band clamps, gaskets, about two hours for an equipped mechanic. The factory valves, if the car has them, stay controlled by the driving modes; otherwise, the two-button Rog remote operates them.
The page also offers the downpipe, the catalysed pipe running from the turbo, under the “Manifold” option. Without an ECU remap, it brings sound, not power; it is the map that turns the freed-up flow into horsepower. With 200 cells, the Portofino keeps its emissions control, and the decat version is reserved for track use. With the roof down, the tips are on show: titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel for the same design, comes in brushed, gold or purple, while stainless steel keeps a more understated look.

Questions about the Ferrari Portofino 3.9 V8 biturbo exhaust.
Can my Portofino M take this system?
Our page only documents the 3.9-litre Portofino of the 2020 model year and does not extend the part to the M. We do not rule it out, though: send us your VIN and we check before starting manufacturing.
What role does an ECU remap play on a Portofino?
For the cat-back alone, none: the Portofino’s ECU stays exactly as Ferrari delivered it. With the downpipe, it becomes essential to convert the flow into power and recalibrate the lambda sensor placed after the catalytic converter, which could otherwise light the warning lamp.
Which settings should you adopt to present the Portofino at vehicle inspection?
Presented with the valves closed, it returns to a sound close to standard. Both the 200-cell downpipe and the factory front section retain emissions control. If you opt for the 100-cell downpipe, it will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and a decat Portofino is reserved for track use, which hardly fits a car made for leisurely drives.
Roof open on the motorway, does the Portofino become tiring?
Not with the valves closed: the gases pass through the silencer, designed for cruising, and the system does not drone at a steady speed. You open them for a coastal road or a tunnel, when you decide.
