    HondaCivic Type R FK2

The Honda Civic Type R FK2 exhaust in detail.

The Civic Type R FK2, sold from 2015 to 2017, entrusts its 310 hp and 400 Nm to the K20C1, a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that keeps Honda’s most famous signature, VTEC. That change of personality, which turns a civilised engine into a racing machine past a certain rev point, remains a cult moment for a whole generation of enthusiasts.

The turbo already swallows part of the voice, and the factory exhaust remains tuned for discretion. With the valves open, the Rog valved cat-back gives the K20C1 a metallic, assertive presence at all revs; with the valves closed, the FK2 becomes the reliable, discreet everyday hatchback again. The FK8, FL5 and the naturally aspirated EP3 and FN2 Type R each have their own page; your VIN lets us check before manufacturing.

With no welding, using clamps and gaskets, fitting takes about two hours; the valves follow their factory control if the car has one, otherwise the Rog remote. The page offers the downpipe, which starts at the turbo and carries the catalytic converter, under the “Manifold” option: fitted on its own, it changes the sound and saves a little weight without adding horsepower, while with an ECU remap the Stage 2 figures published for the FK2 reach 368 hp and 504 Nm. On the FK2, a 200-cell downpipe keeps emissions control working, a 100-cell one is accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, away from any open road. The hatchback’s round tips come in 304 stainless steel as well as titanium, the latter around 40% lighter and finished in brushed, gold or purple.

Questions about the Honda Civic Type R FK2 2.0 exhaust.

Between the Civic Type R FK2 and the FK8, is the system interchangeable?

No, the 2017 to 2021 FK8 has its own page, as does the FL5. This one is reserved for the 2015 to 2017 FK2; your VIN lets us confirm compatibility before manufacturing.

On the Civic Type R FK2, at what point does an ECU remap become useful?

When the downpipe joins the cat-back: it is this pairing, map included, that takes the FK2 from 310 to 368 hp and from 400 to 504 Nm according to the published Stage 2 figures, whereas the cat-back alone does without.

Modified Civic Type R FK2: what is needed for vehicle inspection?

Closed valves and an active catalytic converter, original or 200-cell downpipe: the hatchback then regains its factory discretion. For an FK2 with a 100-cell, the outcome depends on the car and the country, and a decat FK2 has no business anywhere but the track.

Can the engine warning light come on in the Civic FK2 with a sport downpipe?

It can happen with a sport catalytic converter: the downstream sensor reads different emissions treatment from stock. It is not an engine fault; it is dealt with through an ECU remap or a diagnostic tool, and the decat version requires an ECU remap.

Honda Civic Type R FK2 2.0: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

Honda Civic Type R FK2 2.0: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
