Configuration
Lamborghini Murciélago / Murciélago Roadster V12 Valved Exhaust System (2001-2010)
Valves
Operated by remote control, factory-paired.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.
Configuration guide
Sound intensity with the valves open, on a scale of 0 to 10.
| Configuration | Intensity |
|---|---|
| Decat manifolds + Rog cat-back | 10/10 |
| 100-cell sports catalytic converter + Rog cat-back | 9/10 |
| 200-cell sports catalytic converter + Rog cat-back | 8/10 |
| Rog cat-back only, factory catalytic converter retained | 7/10 |

The Lamborghini Murciélago / Murciélago Roadster V12 exhaust in detail.
From 2001 to 2010, the Murciélago carried a naturally aspirated V12 descended directly from the brand’s founding engine. Our data lists it at 640 hp and 660 Nm for the whole period, so your VIN is checked before manufacturing to confirm the version. The Aventador and Revuelto, its successors, have their own pages.
This V12 screams up to revs that few engines of its displacement ever reach, and the factory exhaust merely holds back what the regulations demand. With the valves open, our valved cat-back gives it a higher, louder cry, with bangs on the overrun; with the valves closed, the Murciélago keeps a safety valve of civility for crossing a village without causing a riot.
A page carried over from the old catalogue and a car that is now a classic: we check the VIN, the version and the condition of the system to be replaced before manufacturing. Fitting is done without welding, with clamps and gaskets; without factory valves, the Rog remote and its small box take control of the valves.
The “Manifold” option replaces the V12’s manifolds, along with their catalytic converters. Still used on the road, the Murciélago is better off with 200-cell manifolds, which maintain emissions control; with 100 cells, they are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and in decat form they are reserved for track use. The power gain on such a naturally aspirated engine remains modest, 3 to 8% with an ECU remap. 304 stainless steel and titanium, around 40% lighter and offered in brushed, gold or purple, are both available.

Questions about the Lamborghini Murcielago / Murcielago Roadster V12 exhaust.
Whatever its year, is my Murciélago covered?
The page covers 2001 to 2010 under a single power output; your car’s VIN lets us check its version before starting manufacturing.
What power gain can you expect on the Murciélago?
Modest: on this naturally aspirated V12, manifolds and an ECU remap bring 3 to 8%. The Stage 2 figure shown on the page, well beyond that, is not repeated here.
Which settings before presenting a modified Murciélago to the inspector?
With the valves shut, the V12 regains its restraint; the cat-back alone or 200-cell manifolds leave its emissions control complete. 100-cell manifolds are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; in decat form, they restrict the car to the track.
And for a Murciélago Roadster?
Yes. The coupé and the Roadster, offered from 2004, take the same Rog system, with the same V12 and the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Lamborghini Murcielago / Murcielago Roadster V12: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Lamborghini Murcielago / Murcielago Roadster V12: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
