    A question about this exhaust?

    Mercedes-AMGGT 43 / 63 X290

    The Mercedes-AMG GT43 X290 exhaust in detail.

The GT43 X290 is the six-cylinder version of the four-door AMG GT: a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline engine, 367 hp and 500 Nm available very early, put down through 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. A naturally balanced layout, great smoothness, and a silhouette that promises far more than the factory exhaust lets you hear on the 2019 to 2025 models covered here.

Because the soundtrack stays flat: the car accelerates vigorously, but the smooth note of the inline-six, which gains roughness as soon as the turbo gets to work, is erased. The Rog cat-back lets it unfold its voice from a hushed idle to forthright climbs, valves open; with the valves closed, the GT43 regains the discretion of a luxury cruiser for piling on the miles.

We document the GT43 and not the GT53, which is not covered by this page; the V8 GT63 has its own. The system, built to your VIN, fits without welding, with clamps and gaskets, in about two hours; the AMG modes stay in charge of factory valves, otherwise the Rog remote takes over.

The “Manifold” option corresponds to this six-cylinder’s downpipe. With 200 cells, it leaves emissions control intact, which suits a grand tourer. On a four-door touring car, the 100-cell, accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version, reserved for track use, remain exceptional choices. The GT43 has no published Stage 2 figures on its page, and the material is a choice between 304 stainless steel and a titanium that takes around 40% of the mass off the system.

    Questions about the Mercedes-AMG GT43 X290 3.0 turbo exhaust.

As the owner of an AMG GT53 X290, can I order the system designed for the GT43?

Not on the basis of our data: the page for the system names the GT43 and excludes the GT53, even though the front section lists both. Send us the VIN and we will check before manufacturing rather than extend compatibility.

Does the GT43 X290 fitted with the system need an ECU remap?

Not as long as the original front section stays in place: the AMG map handles the cat-back without modification. If you fit the downpipe, only an ECU remap gets horsepower out of it; the page publishes no Stage 2 for this version.

Before a vehicle inspection visit, how should a modified GT43 X290 be configured?

Close the valves and keep the cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipe: the grand tourer sounds as it did on delivery and emissions control works. For a GT43 fitted with a 100-cell downpipe, acceptance depends on the vehicle and your country’s rules. Reserved for track use, the decat variant stays out of any inspection visit.

Does the GT43 X290’s inline-six sound like a V8 with the Rog system?

No, and that is not the aim: it keeps a smooth, even note that hardens under acceleration. The Rog system makes it audible from start to finish, where the original flattened it.

    Mercedes-AMG GT43 X290 3.0 turbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

The Mercedes-AMG GT43 X290 takes the form of a low, stretched four-door coupé, powered by a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six producing 367 hp. A layout renowned for its balance and its sound, yet the factory exhaust smooths it out until it...
