    A question about this exhaust?

    Mercedes-AMGGT 43 / 63 X290

    The Mercedes-AMG GT63 X290 exhaust in detail.

    A four-door that covers 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and reaches 315 km/h as a GT63 S: the AMG GT X290 hides a sports car. Its M177, a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with its turbos housed in the vee, hand-built in Affalterbach, delivers 585 hp and 800 Nm as a GT63, 639 hp and 900 Nm as a GT63 S. The MCT 9G gearbox with multi-plate clutch and variable 4MATIC+ complete the package.

To the ear, however, the car remains almost polite: on recent model years, a particulate filter and oversized silencers smooth everything out. On a four-door, the contrast is even stronger when the thunder returns, because nothing in the silhouette prepares you for what comes out at the back. The Rog cat-back, valves open, restores it; valves closed, the X290 becomes the long-distance saloon it knows how to be again.

This page covers the 2019 to 2025 GT63 and GT63 S X290; the GT63 C192 coupé, on a different platform, has its own page. Fitted with clamps and gaskets, no welding, about two hours; system built to your VIN; valves controlled by the AMG modes or by the Rog remote.

On this four-door, the “Manifold” option actually refers to the catalysed downpipe placed just after the M177’s two turbos. Chosen in 200-cell form, it keeps emissions control and remains compatible with road use. If you are considering the 100-cell version, its acceptance will depend on the car and the rules in your country. As for the decat variant, reserved for track use, it falls outside the scope of a registered saloon. With a completely redone map, the page lists a Stage 2 of 820 hp and 1,100 Nm for both versions. Titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel, lightens the rear of the four-door.

    Questions about the Mercedes-AMG GT63 / GT63 S X290 4.0 V8 biturbo exhaust.

    Does the four-door GT63 X290 system fit the GT63 C192 coupé?

No: the C192 is based on another platform, shared with the SL R232, and has its own page, with no front section offered. This one targets the 2019 to 2025 GT63 and GT63 S X290; the VIN confirms your version before manufacturing.

    What power does a GT63 S X290 reach at Stage 2?

According to our data, 820 hp and 1,100 Nm with downpipe and full ECU remap, against 639 hp and 900 Nm stock; the same figure is published for the 585 hp GT63. The cat-back on its own needs no ECU remap whatsoever.

Which configuration should be kept on a GT63 X290 for the vehicle inspection?

The cat-back alone or the 200-cell downpipe, valves closed: the four-door stays at a standard volume and its exhaust gases are treated. On a GT63 X290, a 100-cell setup will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, hence the value of checking beforehand. As for the decat version, reserved for track use, it has no place at a test centre.

Does the GT63 X290 fitted with the system stay comfortable for long trips?

Yes: with the valves shut, the silencer absorbs the flow and the four-door keeps its grand tourer hush on the motorway. The V8’s voice only returns when you choose.

    Mercedes-AMG GT63 / GT63 S X290 4.0 V8 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
