The Mercedes-AMG S63 W221 exhaust in detail.
Before switching to twin-turbo power, the S63 W221 carried the M156: a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 with 525 hp and 630 Nm, in a prestige limousine, for the 2008 to 2010 model years covered by this page. The 2006 and 2007 S63 W221, like the 2011 cars that moved to the 5.5-litre, are not included; the S63 W222, C217 and W223 have their own pages.
Generous displacement, volcanic character, rolling thunder: this V8 belongs to AMG’s golden era, and the factory exhaust, tuned for limousine buyers, leaves much of it asleep beneath the silencers. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back, a valved system also known as a valve exhaust, gives it back its depth, its bangs on the overrun, its physical presence. With the valves closed, the cruising comfort remains that of an S-Class.
This page only sells the rear system: no front section is offered, for lack of a part suited to this chassis. The factory catalytic converters therefore stay in place, and emissions control with them.
Fitting is done with clamps and gaskets, without welding, in about two hours, and the system is built to your VIN. Factory valve control retained if your S63 has it, otherwise the two-button Rog remote. As for material, 304 stainless steel gives the V8 a full bass; titanium, around 40% lighter, makes it clearer at high revs.

Questions about the Mercedes-AMG S63 W221 6.2 V8 exhaust.
Is my 2011 S63 W221 with the 5.5-litre engine compatible?
No: only the S63 W221 with the 6.2-litre naturally aspirated engine, built from 2008 to 2010, is covered. The 2011 5.5-litre and the 2006-2007 model years are not covered. Send us the VIN if in doubt: we check before manufacturing.
Is an ECU remap worthwhile on the equipped S63 W221?
The rear system works perfectly with the factory AMG map. The page lists a Stage 2 at 572 hp and 693 Nm, but that figure assumes a full tune; here, no front section is sold, so the system mainly brings sound and a little weight saving.
Mercedes-AMG S63 W221 6.2 V8 M156 with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
The Rog exhaust replaces the rear part of the exhaust, without touching the engine or the ECU. Present the car with the valves closed: it is the most discreet setting.
Will my S63 W221 passengers hear the system on the motorway?
Not if the valves stay closed: the silencer does its job and the rear lounge keeps its calm. The V8’s voice only appears when you open them.
Mercedes-AMG S63 W221 6.2 V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
