    A question about this exhaust?

    Mercedes-AMGS63 / S65 C217 / A217

    The Mercedes-AMG S65 C217 / A217 exhaust in detail.

Few production cars are powered by a twin-turbo V12; the S65 C217 is one of them. Its 6.0-litre M279 delivers 630 hp and, above all, 1,000 Nm very low in the rev range, power without nervousness that arrives like a continuous wave. The page covers the C217 coupé and the A217 convertible from 2014 to 2020, and only with the V12: the V8 S63 C217 models have their own pages.

Turbos and factory exhaust form a double filter: the sound of the twelve cylinders, rich and silky, denser than a V8 and smoother too, barely reaches the cabin. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back lets you hear a deep rumble at start-up, then a continuous song with every acceleration. Closed again, the valves give the coupé back the calm of a rolling lounge, for travelling far without unwanted noise.

Made for your VIN, the system is secured in about two hours, clamps and gaskets included, without a single weld being needed. Valves controlled by the factory system if there is one, otherwise by the Rog remote. The tips are the bumper’s own, as on the S65 W222 saloon, which has its own page.

On this V12, the “Manifold” option corresponds to the catalysed downpipe. Chosen with 200 cells, this part keeps emissions control and respects the coupé’s purpose. Fitted with 100 cells, the part will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country; in decat form, it is reserved for track use, somewhere few S65s go. Without an ECU remap, the engine gains nothing but a voice. Titanium or 304 stainless steel: the former removes around 40% of the mass, the latter remains the most widespread choice.

    Questions about the Mercedes-AMG S65 C217 / A217 6.0 V12 biturbo exhaust.

    Can the V12 S65 C217 coupé system be fitted to a V8 S63 C217?

No, the V8 S63 C217s, in both 5.5 and 4.0-litre form, have their own pages. This one only targets the 2014 to 2020 S65 C217 6.0 V12 coupé. Your VIN confirms the version before manufacturing.

Once remapped with its downpipe, what is the S65 C217 coupé’s V12 worth according to the page?

The table shows 730 hp and 1,200 Nm after a downpipe and a full ECU remap, where the V12 leaves the factory with 630 hp and 1,000 Nm. For the cat-back alone, the ECU stays as it is.

Mercedes-AMG S65 C217 6.0 V12 biturbo with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?

With the cat-back only or the 200-cell sports catalytic converter, emissions control is retained: present the car with the valves closed. The 100-cell brings more sound and flow, and whether it is accepted at the emissions test depends on the car and local rules; the decat version is intended for track use.

Can the S65 Cabriolet A217, the open-top version of the coupé, take this system?

Yes. The C217 coupé and the V12 A217 convertible, sold from 2016 to 2019, take the same Rog system, rear silencers included, with the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.

    Mercedes-AMG S65 C217 / A217 6.0 V12 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
