    PorschePanamera 970

The Porsche Panamera 970 V6 exhaust in detail.

The Panamera 970 established at Porsche the idea of a large four-seat saloon as much at ease on the motorway as on a twisting road. In its V6 version, built from 2010 to 2016, it receives a 3.6-litre naturally aspirated engine with direct injection, 300 hp and 400 Nm, that loves to rev. The all-wheel-drive Panamera 4 is not yet documented in our records: its VIN will be checked before any manufacturing. The V8 4.8 saloon is covered separately.

Without forced induction, power builds with the revs, and this V6 gives its best near the top end. Its clear, mechanical voice is only a discreet background sound as standard. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives it back a rumble with real presence at start-up and a crisp, singing climb through the revs; with the valves closed, the Panamera regains the hushed calm of a touring saloon.

The page offers catalysed front pipes, placed just after the manifolds, under the “Manifold” option. On this naturally aspirated engine, their gain is real but modest, 3 to 8%, and only appears with an ECU remap; the 200-cell version maintains emissions control.

Under this long saloon, the exhaust fits in about two hours, with clamps and gaskets, no welding. The Panamera keeps the control of its factory valves, if it has them, or receives the Rog remote. As for materials, 304 stainless steel sounds full, titanium weighs around 40% less for the same design and comes in brushed, gold or purple; the outlets can be chosen in chrome, gloss black or blued titanium.

Questions about the Porsche Panamera 970 3.6 V6 exhaust.

Four-wheel-drive Panamera 4: is the 970 V6 system designed for it?

Our page documents the Panamera 970 with the 3.6-litre V6 without naming the Panamera 4. That does not rule anything out: we check against its VIN before building.

Are sport front pipes worthwhile on the Panamera 970 V6?

The voice comes mainly from the cat-back. The sport front pipes are only worthwhile for power with an ECU remap, and on this naturally aspirated saloon V6 the gain tops out at 3 to 8%.

Vehicle inspection: does a modified Panamera 970 V6 need any preparation?

A light build: closed valves for a sound close to stock, original or 200-cell pipes so the catalytic converter keeps working. Beyond that, 100-cell pipes are subject to the car and the rules in your country, which accept them or not, and a decat saloon is reserved for track use.

With four on board on the motorway, does the equipped Panamera stay quiet?

With the valves closed, yes: the silencer, designed for cruising, avoids any drone at a steady speed. The passengers travel in peace, and you open the valves when the road allows.

Porsche Panamera 970 3.6 V6: straight pipe or resonator?

On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
