The Porsche Panamera S 970.2 exhaust in detail.
With the 970.2 phase, the Panamera S dropped the naturally aspirated V8 of its early years for a 3.0-litre V6 with two turbos: 420 hp, 520 Nm and torque spread over a very wide band, making the big saloon livelier when accelerating. Our page covers the 2014 to 2016 model years and only names the S; for a 4S your VIN lets us check before manufacturing.
The switch to twin turbos changed the game for sound: the turbines absorb some of the exhaust gas energy, and the factory exhaust, tuned for comfort, smothers the rest. Yet this V6 has an eager voice, with a hoarse tone and a dry grain under acceleration. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back makes it broader, present with every acceleration without becoming intrusive; with the valves closed, the Panamera S regains the silence of a grand tourer.
This V6’s turbos lead into a catalysed downpipe, which the page replaces under the “Manifold” option. Combined with an ECU remap, it paves the way to the 483 hp and 609 Nm published for Stage 2; on its own, it only affects the voice and the weight, and its 200-cell version maintains the saloon’s emissions control.
Under the body of this large hatchback, the exhaust is installed in about two hours with clamps and gaskets, no welding. If the Panamera S left the factory with valves, the exhaust connects to their control; otherwise, a Rog remote, with its box hidden in the boot, decides. 304 stainless steel, round and durable, or titanium, around 40% lighter for the same design and finished in brushed, gold or purple; the round tips can be ordered in chrome, gloss black or blued titanium.

Questions about the Porsche Panamera S 970.2 3.0 V6 biturbo exhaust.
My Panamera is a 4S 970.2: does this S system suit it?
Our page refers to the Panamera S alone and excludes the 4S and the 2013 model year from this reference. So we check your VIN before any manufacturing, rather than extending the system to an undocumented version.
Downpipe and ECU remap on the Panamera S 970.2’s V6: what result?
At Stage 2, the Panamera S page quotes 483 hp and 609 Nm, a gain of nearly 90 Nm over the stock V6. For the cat-back alone, however, the ECU stays exactly as Porsche delivered it.
On vehicle inspection day, how should a modified Panamera S 970.2 be presented?
By presenting it with the valves closed, with the original or 200-cell downpipe, you keep a saloon’s sound and intact emissions control. Choosing a 100-cell downpipe, on the other hand, exposes you to case-by-case acceptance, depending on the car and the rules in your country; without a catalytic converter, the big saloon is strictly for track use.
Phase 1 V8 or twin-turbo V6: which Panamera S do I have?
The 970.2 phase, from 2014 to 2016, has the 420 hp 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6; the earlier Panamera S used a naturally aspirated V8, which our 970 pages cover separately. The VIN confirms the generation before manufacturing.
Porsche Panamera S 970.2 3.0 V6 biturbo: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.

Porsche Panamera S 970.2 V6 biturbo: a new heart, the exhaust system guide
With the 970.2 generation, the Panamera S gives up its naturally aspirated V8 for a more powerful 3.0-litre biturbo V6 that delivers 420 hp and 520 Nm. Porsche's large sports saloon gains torque and liveliness, but its factory exhaust, tuned...
