    A question about this exhaust?

The Alfa Romeo 4C 960 exhaust in detail.

The 4C is a wonderful anomaly: a carbon tub, mid-mounted engine, under a tonne, the recipe of a supercar in compact form. Its 1.75-litre turbo, mounted just behind the occupants, delivers 240 hp and 350 Nm, with a raw character that the factory exhaust does not take all the way.

On such a radical car, the exhaust sits a few centimetres from your ears, and it is the obvious modification. With the valves open, the valved Rog cat-back gives a hoarse, present sound, an audible turbo and crisp crackles on lift-off; with the valves closed, the 4C becomes presentable in town again. The contrast is striking, and you decide the volume.

All 4C 960s from 2013 to 2020 fall within the scope of the page, and we check each one’s VIN before manufacturing. Allow about two hours for fitting, no welding, with clamps and gaskets, with the factory valve control if the car has one, or the Rog remote.

The small turbo leads into a downpipe carrying the catalytic converter, which the page replaces under the “Manifold” option. Without an ECU remap, it acts on the sound and the weight, which counts double on a 4C; with one, it becomes a power lever whose result depends on the tune. Because a 4C remains a road car, the 200-cell downpipe, which keeps emissions control, is the most sensible option; the 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, the decat being reserved for track use. On a sports car weighing less than a tonne, titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel for the same design, makes perfect sense.

Questions about the Alfa Romeo 4C 960 exhaust.

Does the 4C 960 system fit both the coupé and the spider?

Our sources do not distinguish between the two body styles: the page targets the 2013 to 2020 4C 960. To remove any doubt about yours, send us the VIN and we check before manufacturing.

Does the 4C 960’s 1.75 turbo need a visit to the tuner after fitting?

No visit is needed with the cat-back, which works with the standard engine management; if you add the downpipe, an approved tuner will turn that flow into power, according to their method and your use.

Mid-engine layout and vehicle inspection: what precautions on a fitted 4C 960?

Presented with the valves closed, with the factory downpipe or the 200-cell, it keeps an active catalytic converter and a voice close to standard. With the 100-cell, the outcome depends on the car and your country; in decat form, the 4C stays on the track.

Is titanium worth it on a 4C 960 that is already so light?

That is exactly where it makes the most sense: around 40% less weight for the same design, on a car weighing under a tonne. 304 stainless steel remains the robust choice, with a fuller sound.

Alfa Romeo 4C 960: Does a valved exhaust system drone?

No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
