The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione / 8C Spider V8 exhaust in detail.
The 8C Competizione is among the rarest and most desirable modern Alfa Romeos: 500 coupés built, a 4.7-litre Ferrari-Maserati V8 with 450 hp and 470 Nm, and a sound unanimously ranked among the finest ever recorded. On a car of this standing, any work must live up to its heritage.
Our system is designed in that spirit: free the V8’s upper register, save weight, and fully respect the original character. With the valves open, the valved Rog cat-back lets the V8 express itself fully at high revs; with the valves closed, discretion returns when it is called for. For an 8C project, we invite you to write to us before ordering: a car of this level deserves a dedicated conversation.
Each 8C receives a system built to its VIN, checked before production, and fitted in about two hours, with no welding; the factory valve control is retained if it exists, with the Rog remote taking over otherwise.
On this naturally aspirated V8, the part sold under the “Manifold” option is the front section carrying the catalytic converters. On this type of engine, a combined ECU remap only brings a real but modest gain, in the order of 3 to 8%; what you are really after is the breathing and the voice. For a collector’s car still driven on the road, the 200-cell version remains the only one that keeps emissions control; the 100-cell version will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, an exceptional use for an 8C. Material and finish, 304 stainless steel or titanium around 40% lighter, are decided with you, like the rest of the project.

Questions about the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione / 8C Spider V8 exhaust.
Is the 8C Spider, the open-top sister of the V8 Competizione, covered by this page?
Yes. The 8C Spider uses the chassis and the 4.7-litre V8 of the Competizione, and takes the same Rog system, fitted with clamps and gaskets. On a car this rare, we always check the VIN before manufacturing.
Does an ECU remap make sense on a collectable 8C Competizione V8?
Not really: the cat-back works with the factory management, and on an 8C the figures are not the point; the system brings weight saving, freer breathing and a superior dimension of sound.
What should be kept on the 8C Competizione V8 to present it at vehicle inspection?
Closed valves and an original or 200-cell front section, so that the catalytic converters stay active and the voice returns close to stock; the 100-cell depends on the car and the country, and a decat 8C stays on the track.
How does ordering work for an 8C Competizione V8, a car built in a run of 500?
Through a prior discussion: material, finish and configuration are chosen together, then we check the car’s VIN before building, as for any heritage part.
Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione / 8C Spider V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
