Operated by remote control, factory-paired.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.

The Ford Mustang GT S550 V8 exhaust (2018 to 2020) in detail.
For the S550’s second phase, Ford gave the Coyote dual injection, direct and port. The naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 then rises to 450 hp and 529 Nm and gains an even stronger appetite for revs. This page covers the Mustang GT from 2018 to 2020; the 2015-2017 phase has its own, as do the S197 and the EcoBoost models.
At idle, the Coyote beats deep and uneven like any cross-plane V8; higher up the rev range it takes on a more metallic, almost European tone. The factory exhaust keeps an outline of it without the depth, especially at everyday speeds. With the Rog valved cat-back and the valves open, the start-up can be heard at the end of the street, low revs rumble and full load sings; with the valves closed, the GT no longer bothers anyone.
Built to your VIN and checked before production, the system fits with clamps and gaskets, no welding, in about two hours, with the factory control retained when the Mustang has factory valves and a two-button Rog remote otherwise.
Under the “Manifold” option, it really is the V8’s manifolds that are sold, with integrated catalytic converter. Combined with an ECU remap, they make it possible to reach the 480 hp and 570 Nm published at Stage 2 for this phase, a modest but real gain, in line with what you would expect from a naturally aspirated engine; without an ECU remap, it is the sound that improves. The GT keeps its emissions control with 200 cells, sees its 100-cell version accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and reserves the decat version for track use. As for materials, 304 stainless steel gives a round sound, titanium removes around 40% of the weight and comes in brushed, gold or purple on the four round outlets.

Questions about the Ford Mustang GT S550 V8 5.0 exhaust.
Does the 2018 Mustang GT S550 V8 system fit a 2016 GT?
No, the 421 hp GT from 2015 to 2017 has its own page. This one targets phase 2 from 2018 to 2020; if your Mustang sits on the cusp of the two, the VIN lets us decide before manufacturing.
Does the dual-injection Coyote 5.0 need an ECU remap with the system?
Not for the cat-back, which works with the factory map. With the manifolds, an ECU remap takes the V8 from 450 to 480 hp and from 529 to 570 Nm according to the published figures: a real gain, in keeping with a naturally aspirated engine.
Mustang GT S550 V8 from 2018 to 2020: how should it be presented for the vehicle inspection?
With the valves closed, so that the Coyote returns close to its factory voice, and factory or 200-cell manifolds that keep the catalytic converters working. The 100-cell depends on the vehicle and the country’s regulations; decat remains a track configuration.
Stainless steel or titanium for the phase 2 Mustang GT S550 V8?
304 stainless steel complements the V8’s bass well and shrugs off winter salt. Titanium, around 40% lighter, highlights the Coyote’s metallic top-end reach and comes in brushed, gold or purple.
Does the Mustang S550 convertible take the same system as the Fastback?
Yes. The S550 Fastback and convertible take the same Rog system, like the original Ford Performance sports exhaust. On the convertible, a floor brace is added under the body: we check the routing against your VIN before manufacturing.
Ford Mustang GT S550 V8 5.0: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Ford Mustang GT S550 V8 5.0: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

Ford Mustang GT S550 V8: the Coyote in two stages, the exhaust system guide
An American icon, the Mustang GT S550 relies on a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8, the Coyote: 421 hp from 2015 to 2017, then 450 hp from 2018 to 2020. No turbo is there to carry or soften the sound: everything...
