The Ford Mustang S650 V8 exhaust in detail.
The Mustang S650, launched in 2024, keeps the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated Coyote V8 with four camshafts, one of the best modern V8s: 486 hp and 569 Nm, a rare appetite for revs for an American engine and a rumble that single-handedly defines the muscle car. In Europe, the versions are far more muffled than their American cousins.
The full sound potential therefore lies dormant under the silencers. With the valves open, the Rog valved cat-back wakes it up: a present rumble at idle, thunderous acceleration, clear bangs on the overrun; with the valves closed, the Mustang becomes civilised again for discreet journeys. The previous generations, S550 and S197, get other parts on their own pages, and each S650 is checked against its VIN before manufacturing.
With clamps and gaskets, without welding, the system installs in about two hours; the factory valve control is retained if the S650 has it, otherwise the Rog remote takes charge.
Further upstream, the page sells the Coyote’s front part, which carries the catalytic converters, under the “Manifold” option. On this naturally aspirated V8, a matching ECU remap refines the management for a real but modest gain, around 3 to 8%; without it, it is the voice that changes. For a Mustang registered in Europe, the 200-cell version is the one that keeps emissions control, the 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the vehicle and your country’s rules, and the decat version is reserved for track use, at drag racing events or track days. Under the S650’s bumper, the system comes in 304 stainless steel, which complements the V8’s deep note, or in titanium, around 40% lighter and offered in three finishes.

Questions about the Ford Mustang S650 V8 exhaust.
Can an older Mustang S550 borrow the S650 V8’s exhaust?
No, the S550s, whether GT or EcoBoost, have their own parts and pages; this one follows the S650 V8 since 2024, with a VIN check before manufacturing.
Does the Mustang S650 V8 need a tuner after the system is fitted?
No, the cat-back fits a Coyote left on its factory map; with the front part, an ECU remap refines the engine management for a modest gain of around 3 to 8%, consistent with a naturally aspirated V8.
Fitted Mustang S650 V8 and vehicle inspection: what precautions?
Close the valves and keep an original or 200-cell front section: the V8 returns to its European voice, catalytic converters active. The 100-cell will be accepted or not depending on the car and your country; the decat version is reserved for the track.
Why does the European Mustang S650 V8 sound so tame from the factory?
Because the European versions are far more heavily muffled than the American ones. The Rog cat-back lifts that filter with the valves open and puts it back with them closed.
Ford Mustang S650 V8: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Ford Mustang S650 V8: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
