Valved Exhaust System for Lexus IS F XE20 V8 5.0 (2007-2014)
Configuration
Lexus IS F XE20 V8 5.0 Valved Exhaust System (2007-2014)
Valves
Operated by remote control, factory-paired.
Estimated at 0.50 m from the outlet, 45°, 2,000 rpm with a warm engine. Allow ± 2 dB depending on the engine and measuring point. A 3 dB difference is audible in a direct comparison; 10 dB sounds roughly twice as loud.

The Lexus IS F XE20 V8 5.0 exhaust in detail.
In the age of turbocharging, the IS F remains a rarity: its 2UR-GSE is a 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 assembled with watchmaking precision, which howls beyond 7,000 rpm and which many rank among the finest modern V8s. In the 2007 to 2014 XE20 saloon, it delivers 423 hp and 505 Nm.
Its refined factory system holds back precisely the upper register. With the valves open, the Rog valved cat-back gives it presence at all revs, an increasingly pure howl as it approaches 7,300 rpm and thoroughbred bangs on the overrun; with them closed, the IS F regains the refinement you expect from a Lexus. The same V8 powers the GS F, RC F, IS500 and LC500, but each of these Lexus models has its own system, described on another page.
The system is built to your VIN and checked before production. With clamps and gaskets, no welding, it installs in about two hours; the factory valve control stays in place if the car has one, and otherwise the two-button Rog remote replaces it.
On this naturally aspirated engine, the “Manifold” option sells the manifolds themselves, in which the original catalytic converter is integrated. Replacing them combined with an ECU remap gives a real but modest gain, in the order of 3 to 8%; without one, it is the 2UR-GSE’s crescendo that asserts itself. In the XE20 saloon, 200-cell manifolds let emissions control do its job, 100-cell ones will be accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country, and the decat version is reserved for track use, for IS Fs entered in track days. The IS F’s round tip can be ordered in 304 stainless steel or titanium, around 40% lighter, in a brushed, gold or purple finish.

Questions about the Lexus IS F XE20 V8 5.0 exhaust.
Why doesn’t the IS F XE20 have the same system as the RC F and GS F, which share its V8?
Because the 2UR-GSE is shared but the body is not: each model dictates its own geometry, and therefore its own system. This one follows the IS F XE20 from 2007 to 2014, and your VIN confirms compatibility before manufacturing.
Does a modified map bring anything to the IS F XE20’s 2UR-GSE?
For the cat-back, the factory map is enough. With the manifolds, an ECU remap converts the better cylinder filling into a modest gain, roughly 3 to 8%: on this naturally aspirated V8, what matters most is the breathing and the crescendo.
Lexus IS F XE20 V8 5.0 with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
The 200-cell configuration with the valves closed is the one to use: the catalytic converters keep working and the V8 returns to its factory restraint. With 100-cell converters, the answer depends on the car and the country; decat manifolds are for track use only.
Is it really worth changing the manifolds on the IS F’s V8 5.0?
Not for the voice, which the cat-back already transforms. On a naturally aspirated engine like this one, the manifolds affect cylinder filling and mainly interest those planning an ECU remap.
Lexus IS F XE20 V8 5.0: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Lexus IS F XE20 V8 5.0: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.
