The Porsche 911 Carrera 991.1 exhaust in detail.
Two displacements share the 911 Carrera 991.1, built from 2012 to 2015: a 3.4-litre with 350 hp and 390 Nm, and a 3.8-litre with 400 hp and 440 Nm. Both are naturally aspirated flat-sixes, and both are covered by this page. The Turbo S of the same generation has its own system; your VIN confirms compatibility before manufacturing.
This flat-six only truly expresses itself as it climbs through the revs, and the factory exhaust, weighing 28.6 kg according to our page, smothers it. Engine at the rear, short and direct exhaust: every change can be heard immediately. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives it back its metallic, hoarse tone, present from idle, with crisp crackles on the overrun; with the valves closed, the factory discretion is intact.
For the front section, the 991.1 receives genuine manifolds, with an integrated catalytic converter, sold under the “Manifold” option. On this naturally aspirated engine, their geometry affects cylinder filling at high revs: a real but modest gain, 3 to 8%, and only with an ECU remap. The published Stage 2 figures are 383 hp and 431 Nm for the 3.4-litre, 441 hp and 483 Nm for the 3.8-litre; with the 200-cell, emissions control is preserved.
Band clamps, gaskets, about two hours on a lift: fitting requires no welding. Factory valves retained with their drive modes, or the Rog remote if your 911 has none. Compared with the 28.6 kg factory exhaust, titanium, around 40% lighter than 304 stainless steel for the same design, makes sense; it comes in brushed, gold or purple, and the tips in chrome, gloss black or blued titanium.

Questions about the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.4 / 3.8 type 991.1 exhaust.
My 991.1 has the 3.8-litre engine: same system as the 3.4?
Yes, the page covers both 991.1 displacements, 3.4 and 3.8 litres, from 2012 to 2015. Only the VIN, checked before manufacturing, tells us whether your car has a particularity to take into account.
With sport manifolds, what can a remapped 991.1 achieve?
Depending on displacement, the published Stage 2 figures range from 383 hp and 431 Nm for the 3.4-litre to 441 hp and 483 Nm for the 3.8-litre. The cat-back, ordered without manifolds, fits a 991.1 with the factory map.
My 991.1 is due for its vehicle inspection: original or sports manifolds?
A 911 with its valves closed, with a sound close to stock, fitted with the original manifolds or their 200-cell version to keep emissions control. With 100 cells, acceptance remains tied to the car and the rules in your country; the decat version is reserved for track use.
How much does a 991.1’s factory exhaust weigh?
28.6 kg, according to our page. The Rog titanium system is around 40% lighter than its stainless steel equivalent for the same design, which matters on a car whose engine sits behind the rear axle.
Coupé, convertible or Targa: does the 911 Carrera 3.4 and 3.8 991.1 take the same system?
Yes. On the 911 Carrera 3.4 and 3.8 991.1, coupé, convertible and Targa 4 / 4S share the flat-six and the same Rog system, fitted with clamps and gaskets. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Porsche 911 Carrera 3.4 / 3.8 type 991.1: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
