The Porsche 911 Carrera 997.1 exhaust in detail.
With the 997.1, the 911 Carrera got its round headlights back and kept a water-cooled 3.6-litre naturally aspirated flat-six mounted behind the rear axle: 325 hp and 370 Nm, for the 2004 to 2008 model years. The direct-injection 997.2 and the 997 Turbo have their own pages. Your Carrera’s VIN, checked before manufacturing, confirms the right phase.
This engine revs with a linearity that invites you to chase the top of the rev counter, and that is where its voice changes register: a dull, metallic rumble at idle, then an ever sharper cry. Behind the factory exhaust, the progression can still be heard but is very polished. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back unfolds the whole range, a gritty idle and a clean climb; with the valves closed, the 911 regains the discretion of a GT.
On the 997.1, the page also offers front pipes, placed just after the manifolds, under the “Manifold” option, with 200 cells, 100 cells or without a catalytic converter. Their benefit for power, real but modest on a naturally aspirated engine, 3 to 8%, only appears with an ECU remap; the page publishes 357 hp and 415 Nm at Stage 2, while the 200-cell version of the pipes maintains the 997.1’s emissions control.
Under the 997.1, no welding: clamps and gaskets are enough, for about two hours on a lift. A 997.1 delivered with valves keeps their control; the others receive the Rog remote. 304 stainless steel keeps a round sound, titanium saves around 40% for the same design and comes in brushed, gold or purple; three tip finishes, chrome, gloss black or blued titanium, complete the choice.

Questions about the Porsche 911 Carrera type 997.1 exhaust.
997.1 or 997.2: how do I know which page to choose?
The 997.1 runs from 2004 to 2008 with a 325 hp 3.6-litre; the 997.2, from 2008 to 2012, switches to direct injection and 345 hp. In 2008, the changeover year, your Carrera’s VIN lets us decide before manufacturing.
Front pipes and an ECU remap: what can a 997.1 aim for?
The sport front pipes combined with a suitable map take the 997.1 to the 357 hp and 415 Nm published for Stage 2 on our page. It is a measured gain, typical of a non-turbo engine, while the cat-back alone works without any ECU adjustment.
My fitted 997.1 is going for its vehicle inspection: which configuration should I present?
First, closed valves, which bring the car back to a sound close to stock. Then, original or 200-cell front pipes to keep emissions control. The 100-cell pipes, for their part, are accepted or not depending on the car and the rules in your country. A 997.1 without a catalytic converter is strictly for track use.
How many days between ordering and delivery for a 997.1?
The system is built for your car after checking the VIN: allow 20 working days until delivery, with free, insured shipping, handed over against signature.
Coupé, convertible or Targa: does the 911 Carrera 997.1 take the same system?
Yes. On the 911 Carrera 997.1, coupé, convertible and Targa 4 / 4S share the flat-six and the same Rog system, fitted with clamps and gaskets. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Porsche 911 Carrera type 997.1: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Porsche 911 Carrera type 997.1: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

Porsche 911 Carrera 997.1 and 997.2: the matured flat-six, the exhaust system guide
With the 997.1 and 997.2, the 911 Carrera went back to round headlights and a silhouette true to its lineage. The 997.1 from 2004 to 2008 keeps a 325 hp naturally aspirated flat-six; the 997.2 from 2008 to 2012 adopts...
