The Porsche 911 Carrera 997.2 exhaust in detail.
On the 997.2, Porsche thoroughly reworked the 3.6-litre flat-six with direct injection: 345 hp, 390 Nm and an even crisper response than on phase 1, for the 2008 to 2012 model years. The factory exhaust, which weighs 19.1 kg according to our page, nevertheless works hard to keep this engine discreet. The 997.1 and the Turbo S 997.2 each have their own page; the VIN confirms yours before manufacturing.
With the valves open, the Rog valved cat-back lets the flat-six move from the metallic rumble of idle to the high-pitched cry of high revs, gear after gear, without the smoothing of the factory exhaust. With the valves closed, your 911 becomes a hushed grand tourer again, in town as on the motorway.
The page offers front pipes as an option, placed just after the manifolds, under the name “Manifold”. On a naturally aspirated engine, their contribution only exists with an ECU remap and stays modest, 3 to 8%; the published Stage 2 figures for the 997.2 are 378 hp and 436 Nm, and the 200-cell version of the pipes leaves emissions control as it is.
Fitting requires no welding: clamps, gaskets, about two hours on a lift. The valves follow the factory control where it exists, the Rog remote otherwise. 304 stainless steel or titanium, the latter around 40% lighter for the same design and offered in brushed, gold or purple; tips in chrome, gloss black or blued titanium, to match the tailpipes to the car’s style.

Questions about the Porsche 911 Carrera type 997.2 exhaust.
My 997.2 is a Carrera S: does the system suit it?
The page is set up for the Carrera 997.2 and its 345 hp; the S version is not named. Send us your car’s VIN: we check compatibility before manufacturing, rather than assume.
Is a map needed to make the most of the 997.2’s front pipes?
Yes, it is the remap that turns the freed-up flow into power, up to the 378 hp and 436 Nm published for Stage 2. If you stick with the cat-back, the 997.2’s ECU stays as Porsche programmed it.
Porsche 911 Carrera 997.2 3.6 with a Rog exhaust: what should you know about vehicle inspection?
The cat-back alone and the 200-cell pipes retain emissions control; present the car with the valves closed on test day. The 100-cell pipes depend on the vehicle and your country’s rules, which accept them or not; without a catalytic converter, the 997.2 is reserved for track use.
Is titanium worth the difference on a 997.2?
It weighs around 40% less than stainless steel for the same design and sounds more crystalline at high revs; 304 stainless steel stays fuller, and just as durable against winter salt. On a 911 used all year round, both choices make sense; titanium adds three colours, from brushed to purple.
Coupé, convertible or Targa: does the 911 Carrera 997.2 take the same system?
Yes. On the 911 Carrera 997.2, coupé, convertible and Targa 4 / 4S share the flat-six and the same Rog system, fitted with clamps and gaskets. Your VIN is only used to confirm the version and model year before manufacturing.
Porsche 911 Carrera type 997.2: Does a valved exhaust system drone?
No. With the valves closed, the gases flow through the whole rear silencer and the cabin stays calm at a steady speed. Our Rog exhausts are designed to avoid drone. Learn more: Why our systems stay calm on the motorway.
Porsche 911 Carrera type 997.2: straight pipe or resonator?
On this model, two characters at the same price: the straight pipe for the raw sound of your engine, unfiltered, or the resonator for a rounder and slightly softer voice. Either way, the exhaust stays fully sporty. Learn more: Exhaust resonator: what does it do? Straight pipe or resonator, which sound to choose.

Porsche 911 Carrera 997.1 and 997.2: the matured flat-six, the exhaust system guide
With the 997.1 and 997.2, the 911 Carrera went back to round headlights and a silhouette true to its lineage. The 997.1 from 2004 to 2008 keeps a 325 hp naturally aspirated flat-six; the 997.2 from 2008 to 2012 adopts...
