The Porsche Panamera / Sport Turismo 971 V8 exhaust in detail.
At the heart of the Panamera 971 V8 is a 4.0-litre whose two turbos nestle between the cylinder banks, for a shorter gas path and sharper response: 460 hp and 620 Nm in its most accessible form, up to 550 hp and 770 Nm depending on the version. Our page covers 2017 to 2023 without distinguishing between GTS, Turbo and Turbo S; we use your VIN to check before manufacturing.
Deep and dense, this V8’s voice rolls low at idle and swells under load. In the stock Panamera, only a polite murmur remains, out of all proportion to the force pinning you into your seat. With the valves open, the Rog cat-back gives it all the room it needs, an assertive start-up and roll-ons you can hear; with the valves closed, the saloon regains its long-distance silence.
To go beyond sound, the catalysed downpipes following the turbos are replaced under the “Manifold” option. Only an ECU remap turns them into power: our page publishes 640 hp and 900 Nm at Stage 2 for the 460 hp version. Without a map, the benefit is in the sound, and with the 200-cell emissions control remains.
Band clamps and gaskets, no welding, about two hours on a lift: the system slips under the Panamera without changing anything on the V8. Factory valve control retained, or the Rog remote otherwise. Titanium, which removes around 40% of the weight for the same design, comes in brushed, gold or purple, with 304 stainless steel keeping a fuller bass note, and the rear gets four round tips in chrome, gloss black or blued titanium.

Questions about the Porsche Panamera / Sport Turismo 971 4.0 V8 biturbo exhaust.
My Panamera 971 V8 is a GTS: can I order this system?
Our page lists the Panamera 971 4.0 without ever certifying the GTS, Turbo or Turbo S. So we claim it for none of them, without ruling them out: your car’s VIN is checked before manufacturing.
Downpipe and ECU remap: what potential for the 460 hp Panamera 971 V8?
Our page credits it with 640 hp and 900 Nm at Stage 2, i.e. 180 hp more. The more powerful versions show figures in US units, which we do not repeat here.
Vehicle inspection: which parts should be kept on a Panamera 971 V8?
Presented with the valves closed, with the factory or 200-cell downpipe, it keeps a saloon voice and its emissions control. A 100-cell downpipe remains dependent on the vehicle and your country’s rules; in decat form, the big GT falls under use reserved for the track.
Does the Panamera Sport Turismo take the same system as the saloon?
Yes. The Panamera 971 and the Panamera Sport Turismo take the same Rog system, with the same engine and the same clamp-and-gasket fitting. The long-wheelbase Executive versions are not covered. Your VIN confirms the version before manufacturing.
With four on board on the motorway, does the equipped Panamera V8 drone?
No: with the valves closed, the flow passes through the silencer chambers and the saloon keeps its touring quietness, even at 130 km/h. The V8 only speaks up when the valves open.
